Semi‐Analytical Guidance for Velocity Maximization of Gliding Vehicles Using Proportional Navigation and Sparse Waypoints

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study proposes a semi‐analytical guidance strategy for gliding vehicles by integrating proportional navigation (PN) with sparse waypoint optimization to maximize terminal velocity. Utilizing the analytical solution of PN with a navigation constant of three, the original optimal control problem is transformed into a low‐dimensional ...

Disturbance by massive sporting events in mountain areas: When and where matters for the protected Alpine ibex Capra ibex

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The ongoing development of recreational activities in natural areas raises concerns about their environmental impacts, particularly in mountain ecosystems. Those biodiversity hotspots are highly attractive for outdoor activities, but they are also highly sensitive to human disturbance.

The European honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus) as an ally for the control of the invasive yellow‐legged hornet (Vespa velutina nigrithorax)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2237-2247, April 2025.
The predatory effect of the honey‐buzzard affects the reproductive performance of Asian‐hornet colonies, decreasing the density of workers over distance and time. The foraging distances of the honey‐buzzard concentrates within the first 2000 m from nest, which supports the results observed.
