Warming summers limit reindeer grazing, weakening herbivory pressure in the mountain tundra

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2026, Issue 6, June 2026.
Climate change is predicted to alter species interactions by exposing ecosystems to increasingly frequent and intense warm spells. In the mountain tundra, grazing by large herbivores, particularly reindeer, can limit shrub expansion and preserve Arctic plant diversity.

A multicenter, video‐EEG‐based validation of a multimodal wearable device for focal seizure detection in adults: The SeizeIT2 study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 883-894, June 2026.
Abstract Objective Currently available wearable devices for detecting focal seizures primarily target major motor seizures or involve semi‐invasive subscalp implants. There is a pressing need for accurate, non‐invasive methods to detect diverse focal seizures for long‐term, out‐of‐hospital monitoring.

The Effect of Ankle–Foot Orthoses and Their Characteristics on Balance, and Postural Control in Children With Cerebral Palsy: A Systematic Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Cerebral palsy (CP) frequently compromises postural control and balance in children. Ankle–foot orthoses (AFOs) are routinely prescribed to improve stability, yet the influence of specific design parameters—stiffness, alignment, and individualized tuning—on balance outcomes remains inadequately characterized.

Development and Validation of an Algorithm to Objectively Quantify Adherence to Offloading Interventions

open access: yesJournal of Foot and Ankle Research, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Diabetic foot ulcers require offloading for healing. However, adherence with removable offloading devices is often poor. Prior objective measures of adherence yielded important behavioral insights, despite substantial methodological limitations.

Accelerometry in Diagnosis of Functional Tremor

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Experimental Neurology
Introduction. Functional tremor (FT) is the most common phenotype of functional movement disorders. Electrophysiological assessment is included in the diagnostic criteria for tremor; however, there is currently no consensus criteria for the differential diagnosis of FT.

Improving sleep on the inpatient general, non‐stroke neurology service: A quasi‐experimental interventional trial

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, Volume 21, Issue 6, Page 612-619, June 2026.
Visual Abstract Abstract Background Hospitalized patients often experience poor sleep, which is associated with worse health outcomes, increased rates of delirium, and readmissions. Objective To improve overnight sleep for clinically stable general neurology patients at a single academic center.

Accelerometry and the Capacity–Performance Gap: Case Series Report in Upper-Extremity Motor Impairment Assessment Post-Stroke

open access: yesBioengineering
This case series investigates whether traditional machine learning (ML) and convolutional neural network (CNN) models trained on wrist-worn accelerometry data collected in a laboratory setting can accurately predict real-world functional hand use in ...

Leaping and Accelerometry: A Theoretical Approach

open access: yesNature Precedings, 2008
AbstractAccelerometry has always been a popular method of monitoring locomotor activity but its use is becoming more widespread due to the easy availability of low cost, low power sensors. However one of the major problems with interpreting accelerometer data is that rotation of the sensor alters the output and obtaining independent orientation ...

Physical Activity Knowledge in People With Knee Osteoarthritis Before and After Participation in an Education and Exercise Therapy Programme

open access: yesMusculoskeletal Care, Volume 24, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Few people with knee osteoarthritis meet the World Health Organization (WHO) physical activity guidelines, and knowledge of guidelines in this population is not well known. We examined (i) baseline knowledge of physical activity guidelines in people with knee osteoarthritis; (ii) change in knowledge following participation in an ...
