Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Acceptor Energy Offset Manages Ultrafast Recombination Dynamics in Donor-Acceptor Mixtures

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
We study charge recombination rates in blends of MEH-PPV and a comprehensive set of low molecular-weight fluorine-based acceptors, using visible-pump - IR-probe photoinduced absorption technique.

Ternary Blended Fullerene‐Free Polymer Solar Cells with 16.5% Efficiency Enabled with a Higher‐LUMO‐Level Acceptor to Improve Film Morphology

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, 2019
Ternary approaches to solar cell design utilizing a small bandgap nonfullerene acceptor as the near infrared absorber to increase the short‐circuit current density always decreases the open‐circuit voltage.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Multi-Channel Electron Transfer Reactions: An Analytically Solvable Model

open access: yes, 2015
We propose an analytical method for understanding the problem of multi-channel electron transfer reaction in solution, modeled by a particle undergoing diffusive motion under the influence of one donor and several acceptor potentials.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Halogenated Donor–Acceptor Cyclopropanes as Donor–Acceptor Cyclopropene Surrogates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition
AbstractHerein we report (3+2)‐cycloaddition reactions of halogenated donor–acceptor cyclopropanes (HDACs) as surrogates for donor–acceptor cyclopropenes. Upon reaction with a variety of 2π‐components, cycloaddition followed by elimination generates the unsaturated five‐membered ring products.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Detection of Protein Interactions in the Cytoplasm and Periplasm of Escherichia coli by Förster Resonance Energy Transfer

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2018
This protocol was developed to qualitatively and quantitatively detect protein-protein interactions in Escherichia coli by Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET). The described assay allows for the previously impossible in vivo screening of periplasmic
