Pharmaceutical Industry\u27s Effect on Socioeconomic Development in Sub-Saharan Africa in Relation to Family Planning Accessibility [PDF]
There is a large unmet need for family planning services in sub-Saharan Africa (Goodkind et al, 2018). Pharmaceutical companies contribute to the accessibility of medications in developing countries (Cottingham & Berer, 2011).

Infections Related to Vascular Access Devices
Although the central venous catheter (CVC) reduces the risk of phlebitis, it is 20 to 300 times more expensive and has as much as a 20-fold higher rate of catheterrelated bloodstream infection than the peripheral venous catheter.[3] More than 175 million intravascular devices of various types are sold in the United States each year.[3] Of these, five ...

ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...

On the relation between the accessibility and input observability tests in ODE systems
Determining the accessibility of a nonlinear system is a classical geometric control problem. Accessibility is equivalent to controllability for linear systems at equilibrium points. State observability and controllability are commonly considered as dual

Treatment Strategies for Access-Related Hand Ischemia
Access-related hand ischemia, commonly known as "steal syndrome," is one of the most challenging and worrisome complications for the access surgeon. The construction of an arteriovenous access results in a predictable decrease in the perfusion pressure distal to the anastomosis, which can result in ischemia if the compensatory mechanisms are inadequate.

When Can We Answer Queries Using Result-Bounded Data Interfaces? [PDF]
We consider answering queries on data available through access methods, that provide lookup access to the tuples matching a given binding. Such interfaces are common on the Web; further, they often have bounds on how many results they can return, e.g ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.
