Strategies to Design and Optimize Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Expansion in Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs) as alternatives to dendritic cells for T cell expansion. Key design principles inspired by the immunological synapse are discussed, with emphasis on strategies for polyclonal and antigen‐specific T cell expansion.

Bilateral Accessory Breast: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Accessory breast is a relatively rare conduction, which is commoner in females than males. Most of them do not cause any discomforting symptoms but cosmetic embarrassment especially to a woman in the presence of her partner.Case Summary: A 23-year-old ...

Cholesterol in mRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticles can be Replaced with the Synthetic Mycobacterial Monomycoloyl Glycerol Analogue MMG‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that cholesterol in messenger RNA‐lipid nanoparticles (mRNA‐LNPs) can be completely replaced with an immunopotentiating lipid, i.e., a synthetic analogue of the C‐type lectin receptor agonist monomycoloyl glycerol (MMG‐1), without compromising physicochemical properties, in vivo transfection efficiency, and immunogenicity of the

Methylation of the Gpat2 promoter regulates transient expression during mouse spermatogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Spermatogenesis is a highly regulated process that involves both mitotic and meiotic divisions, as well as cellular differentiation to yield mature spermatozoa from undifferentiated germinal stem cells.

Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...

Development of ListeriaBase and comparative analysis of Listeria monocytogenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Listeria consists of both pathogenic and non-pathogenic species. Reports of similarities between the genomic content between some pathogenic and non-pathogenic species necessitates the investigation of these species at the genomic level to ...

Axillary accessory breast: presentation and treatment

open access: yesInternational Surgery Journal, 2016
Background:  The axillary accessory breast tissue develops as part of polymastia along the milk line. This is of common occurrence in women. The clinical presentation can be from asymptomatic to cyclical changes. Enlargement of axillary accessory breast tissue is during pregnancy and lactation.

Melanoma cells break down LPA to establish local gradients that drive chemotactic dispersal. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The high mortality of melanoma is caused by rapid spread of cancer cells, which occurs unusually early in tumour evolution. Unlike most solid tumours, thickness rather than cytological markers or differentiation is the best guide to metastatic potential.

Dissolving Microneedle for Maintaining the Integrity of HPV Virus‐Like Particles Enabling Durable Sterile Protection Across Various Mucosal Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel dissolving microneedle platform preserves HPV virus‐like particle (VLP) immunogenicity by maintaining structural integrity, crucial for eliciting potent immune responses. Buccal administration induces robust immune response, high neutralizing antibody titers, and durable sterile protection across oral and vaginal mucosal sites.
