Predicting Knot or Catenane Type of Site-Specific Recombination Products

open access: yes, 2007
Site-specific recombination on supercoiled circular DNA yields a variety of knotted or catenated products. We develop a model of this process, and give extensive experimental evidence that the assumptions of our model are reasonable. We then characterize

Improving Surface Quality of Titanium Electrodeposition from a Deep Eutectic Solvent with Organic and Inorganic Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, the electroplating of titanium from an organic solvent, ethaline, is shown. Polymer additives are shown to smooth the roughness of the film, and small molecule additives are shown to produce a near‐mirror finish to the deposited metal. Titanium electroreduction is desired for a variety of medical, electronic, and bonding applications but has ...

Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.

Strategies to Design and Optimize Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Expansion in Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs) as alternatives to dendritic cells for T cell expansion. Key design principles inspired by the immunological synapse are discussed, with emphasis on strategies for polyclonal and antigen‐specific T cell expansion.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Plasma‐Treated Hydrogel for Combined RONS and Chemotherapy Delivery: A Proof‐of‐Concept In Ovo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores plasma‐treated hydrogels (PTH) as a new way to deliver both reactive oxygen and nitrogen species and chemotherapy (Doxorubicin) directly to tumors. In ovo tests show effects after a single dose, especially in osteosarcoma tumors. Tumor weight decrease, and a resistance‐related protein is reduced.

Fluoroless cryo-ablation of para-Hisian accessory pathway

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2017
We present a case of para-Hisian accessory pathway ablation in a patient with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, which was performed with cryoablation to reduce the possibility of collateral damage to the conduction system of the heart.
