Sensitivity and Uncertainty Analysis of Accident Management Strategies Involving Multiple Decisions

Nuclear Technology, 1993
A framework for assessing severe accident management strategies is presented using a new analytical tool, namely, influence diagrams. This framework includes multiple and sequential decisions, sensitivity analysis, and uncertainty propagation, and is applied to a proposed set of strategies for a pressurized water reactor station blackout sequence.

Generating strategies for managing accidents

Nuclear Engineering International, 1994
A system being developed by the Computerised Accident Management Support (CAMS) programme of the OECD's Halden Reactor Project will help identify the current status of an accident, assess its future development and plan mitigation strategies. A prototype has been developed to support operators and nuclear plant technical support centres in decision ...

External Cooling: The SWR 1000 Severe Accident Management Strategy

12th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering, Volume 1, 2004
This paper provides the description of the basics behind design features for the severe accident management strategy of the SWR 1000. The hydrogen detonation/deflagration problem is avoided by containment inertization. In-vessel retention of molten core debris via water cooling of the external surface of the reactor vessel is the severe accident ...

Verification of Severe Accident Management strategies for VVER 1000 (V320) reactor

2010 2nd International Conference on Reliability, Safety and Hazard - Risk-Based Technologies and Physics-of-Failure Methods (ICRESH), 2010
Severe accident analysis of a reactor is an important aspect in evaluation of source term. This in turn helps in emergency planning and Severe Accident Management (SAM). The use of the severe accident management guideline (SAMG) is required for accident situation which is not handled adequately through the use of Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP ...

Need for Health Management Strategies for the Nankai Megathrust Earthquake-Triggered Industrial Accidents

Prehospital and Disaster Medicine
Introduction: The Nankai megathrust earthquake occurs in the Nankai trough, an oceanic trench that runs along the Pacific coast of Japan and recurs in Japan approximately every 100 to 150 years. The last Nankai megathrust earthquake was in the 1940s.
