An unusual acenaphthylene-type sesquiterpene hydrocarbon from Siam and Sumatra benzoin gum
Phytochemistry Letters, 2009A new sesquiterpene was isolated from extracts of Sumatra benzoin gum. Its structure was elucidated by means of mass spectrometry and two-dimensional NMR. This new compound presented an acenaphthylene-type skeleton unpreviously described among the family of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons.

PAH growth assisted by five-membered ring: pyrene formation from acenaphthylene
Combustion theory and modelling, 2021To investigate the role of five-membered rings in the growth of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in flames, the conversion of acenaphthylene to pyrene with substituted phenalene as intermediate is studied through quantum calculations using CBS-QB3

Application of Light Hydrocarbons in Natural Gas Geochemistry of Gas Fields in China
Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Science, 2021Light hydrocarbons (LHs) are an important component of natural gas whose chemical and isotopic compositions play a vital role in identifying gas genetic type, thermal maturity, gas–gas correlation, gas–source correlation, migration direction and phase ...

Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs): Structures, Synthesis and their Biological Profile.
Current Organic Synthesis, 2020Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are aromatic compounds with two or more fused benzene rings in their structural configurations. PAHs do not contain hetero atoms and substituents on the ring system.
