A Computational Study of the Oxidation of the Phenanthryl Radical C14H9•: Thermochemistry and Possible Reaction Pathways

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Kinetics, Volume 58, Issue 1-2, Page 18-41, January - February 2026.
ABSTRACT In this computational study, the reaction of the phenanthryl radical C14H9• (A3•) with molecular and atomic oxygen as part of the reaction mechanism of the oxidation of phenanthrene is investigated. Pathways resulting from the A3• + 3O2 and A3• + O reaction systems are examined using DFT quantum chemistry calculations.

Verifying the PCP-rule by five-center bond indices [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2009
According to the recently discovered PCP-rule, the (stabilizing) energy-effect of the cyclic conjugation in the 5-membered ring of acenaphthylene- and fluoranthene-type polycyclic conjugated hydrocarbons increases with the number of phenyl ...

Combining Insecticides and Bioinputs With Eucalyptus Wood Vinegar: Effects on the Soybean Crop

open access: yesAdvances in Agriculture, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The use of pesticides and bioinputs in agriculture is one of the most vital needs today to improve crop yields. A combination of pesticides and bioinputs, along with natural agents, is a viable solution to make agribusiness more eco‐friendly. Wood vinegar (WV) is a recognized agricultural input that enhances plant growth and can act as a valuable agent

Sensitized and heavy atom induced production of acenaphthylene triplet: a laser flash photolysis study

open access: yes, 1989
The triplet state of acenaphthylene has been examined by nanosecond laser flash photolysis using sensitization and heavy atom perturbation techniques. Although acenaphthylene does not form any observable triplet upon direct flash excitation, a transient ...

Shortcut to Highly Fluorescent Perylene Derivatives: From Fluoranthene Fissure‐Coupling to Late‐Stage Aromatic Extension

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 3, Issue 6, November 11, 2025.
A two‐step shortcut for access to highly soluble, bent, and extended perylene‐based nanographene P1 from a nonperylene aromatic homologation precursor is presented. The modular, stepwise, and rational π‐extension postfunctionalization strategy allows for the tuning of the fluorescent emission properties to reach high quantum yields up to 0.78, giving ...

Resonance‐Enhanced Multiphoton Ionization Spectroscopy of Monocyclic and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in the Gas Phase

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 39, Issue 19, 15 October 2025.
ABSTRACT Rationale Aromatic hydrocarbons (AHs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) pose significant risks to human health and the environment due to their toxic and carcinogenic properties. These depend strongly on molecular structure, with even isomers exhibiting different characteristics.

Micropollutants and Their Interactions With Relevant Environmental Viruses

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2025.
Environmental micropollutants increase virus stability. ABSTRACT Emerging pollutants encompass a diverse array of chemicals classified as micropollutants, including pharmaceuticals and microplastics (MPs). Viruses are known to adsorb onto MPs, including binding to bacterial biofilms that form the plastisphere.
