Acerentulus tortii sp. nov. from Greece (Protura: Acerentomidae)

A new species of Protura, Acerentulus tortii sp. nov., from the island of Euboea, central Greece, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to the A. cunhai species group, based on a short foretarsal sensillum a not reaching seta γ3, and sensilla b and c subequal in length. The most similar species are A.

Acerentulus shrubovychae sp. nov. from Italy (Protura: Acerentomidae)

Phylogeny of Australian Acerentomidae species (Protura: Acerentomidae), with a key to identification

The materials of three Acerentomidae species from Australia and Tasmania were studied. Additional morphological characters, such as chaetotaxy of head and notal segments, shape of body setae and porotaxy, are provided based on new materials of Australentulus westraliensis from Australia and Tasmanentulus tasmanicus from Tasmania.

Baculentulus kulsarinae sp. nov. from Thailand (Protura: Acerentomata, Acerentomidae)

Proturan fauna of Thailand has so far been poorly known, only two contributions being hitherto published. Imadaté (1965) recorded 26 species from around the country and Nakamura and Likhitrakarn (2009) reported eight species including three new species from Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Chiang Mai Province.

Abstract The shape and ultrastructure of sensillum t1 on the foretarsus of the proturan, Acerentomon majus Berlese have been described by means of scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Sensillum t1 is a club-shaped structure, innervated by 3 sensory cells.

A Defensive Behavior ofAcerentulus confinis(Berlese) (Protura: Acerentomidae)

A proturan (Acerentulus confines (Berlese)) was observed and videotaped in an encounter with a springtail (Tomocerina lamellifera (Mills)). Following repeated contacts between the two, the proturan released a sticky exudate when a leg of the springtail came in contact with the proturan's abdomen.
