Runaway Reaction for the Esterification of Acetic Anhydride with Methanol Catalyzed by Sulfuric Acid

, 2018
This work is devoted to the prevention of runaway reactions for the esterification of acetic anhydride with methanol in the presence of sulfuric acid. To this aim, a kinetic model has been developed and validated through the comparison with experimental ...

Gas-Phase Structures of Ketene and Acetic Acid from Acetic Anhydride Using Very-High-Temperature Gas Electron Diffraction.

Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2016
The gas-phase molecular structure of ketene has been determined using samples generated by the pyrolysis of acetic anhydride (giving acetic acid and ketene), using one permutation of the very-high-temperature (VHT) inlet nozzle system designed and ...

The Photolysis of Acetic Anhydride

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1951
The photolysis of acetic anhydride probably by 1849A radiation has been studied in the temperature range 80° to 300°C at pressures of 10–60 mm dibutyl phthalate. From 80° to 224°C the rate is first order during a run but the specific rate decreases with increasing pressure.

Solubility Determination and Thermodynamic Modeling of Glutaric Anhydride in Diverse Solvent Systems Consisting of Acetic Acid, Ethanoic Anhydride, and Tetrachloromethane from T = (278.45 to 324.45) K

Journal of Chemical and Engineering Data, 2018
The solid–liquid equilibrium (SLE) of glutaric anhydride in three pure solvents, tetrachloromethane, acetic acid and ethanoic anhydride, and three binary solvents of acetic acid + tetrachloromethane, ethanoic anhydride + (tetrachloromethane/acetic acid ...

An atom-economic approach to carboxylic acids via Pd-catalyzed direct addition of formic acid to olefins with acetic anhydride as a co-catalyst.

Organic and biomolecular chemistry, 2015
An effective Pd-catalyzed hydrocarboxylation of olefins using formic acid with acetic anhydride as a co-catalyst is described. A variety of carboxylic acids are obtained in good yields with high regioselectivities under mild reaction conditions without ...

Photolysis of Acetic Anhydride

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1955
The photolysis of acetic anhydride has been studied using a hot mercury arc at temperatures from 60° to 160°C by analysis of the gaseous products. CO and C2H6 are produced at equal rates which are one-half the rate of production of CO2. At 60°C, CO production is delayed initially but in time reaches the same rate as C2H6.
