AbstractDiketen and sucrose react in dimethylformamide in the presence of triethylamine to form a mixture of sucrose acetoacetates. Excess diketen gives an almost fully substituted ester as a syrup. Sucrose esterified with three moles of diketen can be resolved into fractions containing principally the mono‐, di‐ and tri‐classes of acetoacetates ...

Acetoacetate Decarboxylase. Preparation of the Enzyme*
Biochemistry, 1966Crystalline acetoacetate decarboxylase can be prepared from Clostridium acetobutylicum by the following steps: Preparation of an acetone powder from the bacteria, extraction of this powder at pH 5.9, precipitation of the enzyme at pH 3.8, a single fractionation with ammonium sulfate, and chromatography over diethylaminoethylcellulose, followed by ...

Interference by thiels in acetoacetate determination
Analytical Biochemistry, 1965Abstract Cysteine and reduced glutathione have been shown to interfere in the colorimetric determination of acetoacetate, using the method of Walker. This interference can be significantly reduced in the case of cysteine and eliminated in the case of reduced glutathione if mercuric chloride is added to the colorimetric reaction mixture.
