Microstructure and Properties of Pipeline Steel with Acicular Ferrite
Materials Science Forum, 2007The X70 grade and X80 grade pipeline steel strip with acicular ferrite microstructure have been researched and developed. The properties of the steel with acicular ferrite were studied by using tensile test, Charpy impact test, CTOD test and DWTT test, and compared to that of the steel with ferrite and pearlite.

Formation of acicular ferrite at oxide particles in steels
Materials Science and Technology, 1989AbstractExperimental steels similar in composition to structural grades were prepared from weld metal deposits to study the formation of acicular ferrite under conditions experienced in the heat affected zone for a range of welding processes. The formation of acicular ferrite under these conditions is found to be dependent on the presence of a suitable

Inoculated acicular ferrite microstructure and mechanical properties
Materials Science & Engineering A: Structural Materials: Properties, Microstructure and Processing, 2001Abstract Low carbon–manganese wrought steels with three different microstructures were prepared by different thermomechanical treatments without changing the chemical composition and their mechanical properties were compared. The microstructure of fine interlocking acicular ferrite nucleated intragranularly at Ti2O3 inclusions shows higher strength ...

Sintering of Acicular NiZn-Ferrite Powder
1987The sintering behavior of an acicular NiZn-ferrite powder was examined with special emphasis on the relation between densification and microstructure development. The acicular powder prepared by the flux method was formed by uniaxial pressing or extrusion.

Acicular ferrite HSLA steels for line pipe
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1977An updated state-of-the-art review has been made of the new-generation high-strength low-alloy steels known as the acicular ferrite Mn-Mo-Nb steels. After individual effects of the various alloying elements were reviewed from the results of earlier research and published data, the importance of processing variables in commercial production was stressed.

Effects of TiC on the microstructure and formation of acicular ferrite in ferritic stainless steel
International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy and Materials, 2019k]The formation mechanism of acicular ferrite and its microstructural characteristics in 430 ferrite stainless steel with TiC additions were studied by theory and experiment. Using an “edge-to-edge matching” model, a 5.25 mismatch between TiC (FCC structure) and fer-ritic stainless steel (BCC structure) was identified, which met the mismatch ...

Catalyst effects in heterogeneous nucleation of acicular ferrite
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 1995The present investigation is concerned with basic studies of the mechanisms of acicular ferrite (AF)’formation in low-alloy steel weld metal. It is confirmed experimentally that different types of orientation relationships exist between AF and specific cubic inclusion constituent phases(i.e., γ-Al2 MnOAl2O3, and TiN).

Acicular ferrite transformation in alloy-steel weld metals
Journal of Materials Science, 1991In this paper, the morphology of acicular ferrite in alloy-steel weld metals has been investigated. The effect of the grain size of prior austenite on acicular ferrite transformation has also been studied. It is found that acicular ferrite can form in reheated weld metals when the austenite grain size is relatively large.

The Nanohardness of Acicular Ferrite and Bainitic Ferrite in Low Carbon Microalloying Steel
Materials Science Forum, 2007Dynamic continuous stiffness measurement (CSM) nanoindentation method was applied to measure nanohardness in low carbon microalloying steel. The matrix hardness for quenched phase and acicular ferrite calculated through analysis of curves is less fluctuated than the raw results, which shows that the analysis of the curves is helpful for determining ...
