Evaluation of behaviour of Lachancea thermotolerans biocontrol agents on grape fermentations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Previous researches have showed that Lachancea thermotolerans strains RCKT4 and RCKT5 inhibited the growth of Aspergillus. However, currently, there are no data on their nutritional preferences, as a possible substrate competitor against Saccharomyces ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Deprotonation of salicylic acid and 5-nitrosalicylic acid in aqueous solutions of ethanol [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2011
The protonation constant values of two hydroxybenzoic acids (salicylic and 5-nitrosalicylic acid) were studied in some water-ethanol solutions using spectrophotometric and potentiometric methods at 25°C and in an ionic strength of 0.1 M sodium ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Prediction and mastering of wine acidity and tartaric precipitations: the Mextar® software tool

open access: yesOENO One, 2002
The MEXTAR® software is a mathematical tool able to predict the physicochemical state of a wine. Solving rigorously physicochemical equilibria, including complexation ones, it enables to simulate various operations endured by a wine: tartaric ...

Limnology of Four Bauxite Open-Pit Lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
The aquatic flora and fauna and 18 physicochemical characteristics of four bauxite open-pit lakes were studied from September 1969 to August 1970. The least acid lake (pH 3.4-4.4) supported 49 different aquatic insects, plankton, and higher aquatic ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
