The oral microbiota and periodontal health in orthodontic patients
Abstract The oral microbiota develops within the first 2 years of childhood and becomes distinct from the parents by 4 years‐of‐age. The oral microbiota plays an important role in the overall health/symbiosis of the individual. Deviations from the state of symbiosis leads to dysbiosis and an increased risk of pathogenicity.

Comparative genomics of the proteostasis network in extreme acidophiles.
Extreme acidophiles thrive in harsh environments characterized by acidic pH, high concentrations of dissolved metals and high osmolarity. Most of these microorganisms are chemolithoautotrophs that obtain energy from low redox potential sources, such as ...

Comparison of two acidophilic sulfidogenic consortia for the treatment of acidic mine water
Sulfate-reducing bioreactors are a biotechnological alternative for the treatment of acid mine drainage (AMD). In this study, two separate bioreactors with pH and temperature-controlled (Bio I and II) were operated with two different acidophilic ...

Biodiversity and Antimicrobial Potential of Acidophilic and Acidotolerant Actinomycetes
The spread of antibiotic resistance in pathogenic microorganisms is one of the main problems of modern medicine. Given the unique metabolic properties of extremophilic microorganisms, the search for producers of new antimicrobial compounds among ...

Sustainable management in a semi‐arid olive orchard increased abundance and diversity of nitrogen‐fixing cyanobacteria, shifting dominance towards Nodosilinea and Nostoc, while conventional soils were dominated by Leptolyngbya. Metabolomics showed stress‐related lipid and vitamin production under conventional management versus enhanced amino acids and ...
