Soil Biodiversity of Eucalyptus saligna: Insights Into Bacterial and Nematode Communities
This exploratory study characterises bacterial and nematode assemblages in the rhizosphere of Eucalyptus saligna plantations in Limpopo, South Africa. High‐throughput sequencing, nematode surveys and multivariate analyses reveal co‐occurrence patterns of soil biota with soil properties, providing a baseline assessment of belowground biodiversity and ...

Effects of elevated pressures on the activity of acidophilic bioleaching microorganisms
This study reports effects of elevated pressures on the oxidation of a soluble ferrous iron and low-grade sulphidic ore as little is known about biological iron and sulphur oxidation under these conditions. Pressure effects were studied in a pressurised batch-operated stirred tank reactor using acidophilic enrichment cultures.

Development and physicochemical and biological characterization of Latex/PVA membranes at different ratios. ABSTRACT Research on dermal dressings has become increasingly important due to the need for affordable, effective, and accessible alternatives to costly and invasive conventional treatments, with materials such as Latex from Hevea brasiliensis ...

Microorganisms perform essential functions in Arctic terrestrial ecosystems. Yet, their ecology and biogeography are poorly understood, despite being necessary to predict microbial responses to future climate change. Here, we provide the first large‐scale floristic and biogeographic study of the moss diatom flora in the tundra regions of the North ...

Phylogeny, Divergent Evolution, and Speciation of Sulfur-Oxidizing Acidithiobacillus Populations
Background Habitats colonized by acidophiles as an ideal physical barrier may induce genetic exchange of microbial members within the common communities, but little is known about how species in extremely acidic environments diverge and evolve.

Real‐time quality and safety monitoring of fruit juice using paper‐based platform
Schematic illustration of a paper‐based biosensor for rapid detection of fruit juice spoilage. Abstract Food spoilage and safety concerns still remain critically challenging within the fruit juice industry, especially as conventional detection methods, though precise, are often too time‐consuming, costly, and reliant on centralized laboratories.

Differential gene expression and the importance of regulatory ncRNAs in acidophilic microorganisms [PDF]
ABSTRACT Gene expression profiles provide insight into how microorganisms respond to changing environmental conditions. However, few studies have integrated expression profile analyses of both coding genes and non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) to characterize the functional activity of microbial community members.
