Effect of acidulated phosphate fluoride solution on veneering particulate filler composite.

The International journal of prosthodontics, 2002
The objective of the current study was to investigate the surface morphologic characteristics of prosthodontic composite materials treated with an acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) agent.Seven composite materials (Artglass, Axis, Belleglass, Cesead II, Dentacolor, Solidex, and Targis) were examined.

Effectiveness of an Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride-Pumice Prophylactic Paste: A Two-Year Report

Journal of Dental Research, 1969
The cariostatic potentiality of an acidulated phosphate fluoride-pumice prophylactic paste was tested on children in grades 5 through 7 in a fluoridated community and in a nonfluoridated community. Measurements of effectiveness were made by one examiner without the use of radiographs; a second examiner made the measurements with and without the use of

The Topical Anticariogenic Effect of Daily Rinsing With an Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride Solution

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1972
Daily during the school week, high school study participants used a rinse containing 1.0 mg fluoride ion per 5 ml in a phosphate solution at pH 4.0. The control group received a placebo solution. At the 24-month examination, about a 25% reduction in caries increments was found in the test participants, compared with the increments observed for the ...

The Antimicrobial Effect of Fluorides (Acidulated Phosphate, Sodium and Stannous) on Actinomyces viscosus

Journal of Dental Research, 1979
The effect of three commercially prepared fluoride compounds (acidulated phosphate fluoride 1.23% F-, stannous fluoride 0.4%, and sodium fluoride 0.05%) diluted to various concentrations with brain heart infusion broth, on the growth of five strains of Actinomyces viscosus following 1 and 24 hours' exposure to the fluorides was studied.

Influence of acidulated phosphate fluoride solution on the color stability of indirect composites

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2004
Although acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) agents are known to be useful for caries-preventive interventions, few studies have examined the influence of APF agents on indirect composite materials. This study examined whether exposure to APF agents affects color stability when a composite is exposed to a common staining agent.Forty light-polymerized ...

Induction of apoptosis in rabbit oral mucosa by 1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride gel

Archives of Toxicology, 2007
Applying of 1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel to prevent caries in children has become very popular among dental practitioners. When applied to dental surfaces, however, APF often comes into contact with the oral mucosa. Due to the possibility of local toxic effect, we aimed to investigate the effects of APF on rabbit oral mucosa.

Effect of acidulated phosphate-fluoride chewable tablets in schoolchildren: results after 55 months

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1977
Two groups of children initially in the first and second grades chewed, rinsed with, and swallowed an acidulated phosphate-fluoride tablet containing 1 mg of fluoride either once or twice a day in school. A control group of children followed the procedure once a day using a placebo tablet.

Effects of topically applied stannous fluoride and acidulated phosphate fluoride alone and in combination on dental plaque

Journal of Periodontal Research, 1982
A five‐day study in 48 subjects, conducted in the absence of customary oral hygiene, measured the effects of a single topical application of stannous fluoride or acidulated phosphate fluoride alone or in a 1:1 combination. All fluoride concentrations were 1.25%. At the end of the study no effects on dental plaque and gingivitis were detected.

Effect of fluoridated dentifrice and acidulated phosphate fluoride application on early artificial carious lesions.

American journal of dentistry, 2003
To evaluate the effect of a combination of fluoride dentifrice and acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) on enamel with incipient caries lesions.Bovine dental enamel blocks with artificial caries lesions were divided into four treatment groups and submitted to a pH-cycling model: (1) Placebo non-fluoridated dentifrice (PD); (2) Fluoridated dentifrice (FD)
