Shear bond strength fissure sealant based on glass ionomer after topical fluor application: a comparison between sodium fluoride and acidulated phosphate fluoride [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Background: Application of fissure sealants to young permanent teeth is one of the preventive measures for caries in the field of dentistry. Fissure sealants based on glass ionomer cement (GIC) have the advantage of releasing fluoride.

Mouthwashes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A mouthwash may be recommended as an antimicrobial, a topical anti-inflammatory agent, a topical analgesic, or for caries prevention. Many different mouthwashes are commercially available and patients and health professionals struggle to select the most ...

The effect of acidulated phosphate fluoride application on dental enamel surfaces hardness

open access: yesDental Journal, 2007
Enamel demineralization by acid is the first step of caries process. It has recently been shown that acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) can maintain the hardness of enamel surface.

The effect of fluoride gel on tensile properties, surface morphology and chemical composition of two types of orthodontic wires (an in-vitro study)

open access: yesJournal of Orthodontic Science, 2021
OBJECTIVE: Stainless steel and nickel-titanium wires are commonly used in fixed orthodontic appliances. Orthodontists often prescribe fluoride gel to avoid demineralization of teeth. This study investigated the effect of acidulated phosphate fluoride gel

Phosphogypsum amendments and irrigation with acidulated water affect tomato nutrition in reclaimed marsh soils from SW Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Phosphogypsum (PG) is a by-product of the P fertilizer industry usually valorised as amendment for acidic and sodic soils. This work was aimed to study the effects of PG on nutrient uptake by industrial tomato plants in an originally sodic soil.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

The Fluoride Recharging Capability of Orthodontic Materials: an in-vitro study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Enamel demineralization in the form of white spot lesions (WSLs) around fixed orthodontic appliances is a persistent problem in patients with poor oral hygiene. These lesions can form rapidly within 4 weeks of bracket placement. The purpose of this in ...

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Salivary retention after application of fluoride gel using toothbrush or tray: a crossover trial

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2012
Currently, there are no studies in the literature evaluating salivary fluoride retention after small amounts of fluoride gel are applied to children's teeth.
