Compatibility of BAS 9052 OH with Acifluorfen and Bentazon

Weed Science, 1983
Large crabgrass [Digitaria sanguinalis(L.) Scop. # DIGSA] control with BAS 9052 OH {2-[1-(ethoxyimino)-butyl]-5-[2-(ethylthio)propyl]-3-hydroxy-2-cyclohexene-1-one} was similar whether applied alone or in combination with acifluorfen {5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid}. Combinations of BAS 9052 OH and bentazon [3-isopropyl-1H-

Interaction of Acifluorfen with Fluazifop for Annual Grass Control

Weed Science, 1986
In field and greenhouse studies, tank mixing 0.3 and 0.4 kg ai/ha of the butyl ester of fluazifop {(±)-2-[4-[[5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-pyridinyl]oxy]phenoxy]propanoic acid} with 0.4 kg ai/ha of acifluorfen {5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid} reduced control of large crabgrass [Digitaria sanguinalis(L.) Scop.

Effects of light and ethylene on the herbicidal action of acifluorfen

Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 1992
Abstract Fully expanded cotyledons from 7-day-old cucumber ( Cucumis sativis L. cv Ashy) seedlings were used to study the interaction of light and ethylene on the herbicidal action of acifluorfen (5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid). Acifluorfen alone increased the level of ethylene production from cucumber cotyledons.

Generation of Resistance to the Diphenyl Ether Herbicide Acifluorfen by MEL Cells

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1995
The diphenyl ether herbicide acifluorfen has been shown to act by inhibition of the terminal enzyme of the protoporphyrin biosynthetic pathway, protoporphyrinogen oxidase (E.C. 1.3.3.4) (PPO), in plant and animal cells. In the present study we show that long term maintenance of murine erythroleukemia (MEL) cells in acifluorfen, which is normally toxic ...

Anaerobic Degradation of Acifluorfen by Different Enrichment Cultures

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1994
A laboratory study on the biodegradation of acifluorfen in anaerobic conditions was conducted. Mixed and pure cultures isolated from activated sludges of a waste water treatment plant and from a soil with a long history of acifluorfen applications could reduce acifluorfen to aminoacifluorfen in a medium with the herbicide as sole source of carbon ...

Effects of acifluorfen on auxin translocation in bean seedlings

Plant Growth Regulation, 1985
The effect of 5-(2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)-2-nitrobenzoic acid (acifluorfen) on the translocation of the14C-labeled auxins 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T-1-14C) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA-1-14C) was determined. The auxins and acifluorfen were injected into the stem at the cotyledonary node of 9-day-old bean (Phaseolus vulgaris

HPLC/UV Determination of Sodium Acifluorfen in Tropical Fish

Journal of Liquid Chromatography & Related Technologies, 1997
Abstract This work reports the determination of sodium acifluorfen residue in fish species living in tropical rivers and lakes (Piaractus mesopotamicus). This determination was carried out through studies of LC50 - 96 hours and BCF-192 hours (BCF = 1/100 LC50).

Microbial biomass-persistence relationships of acifluorfen in a clay-loam soil

Zentralblatt Für Mikrobiologie, 1993
The interference of the effect of the herbicide acifluorfen on microbial biomass and on hydrolytic capacity, and its persistence in a clay-loam soil before and after enrichment with glucose, were investigated. The experiment was carried out under laboratory conditions for 120 days.

Inhibition of mammalian protoporphyrinogen oxidase by acifluorfen.

Biochemistry and molecular biology international, 1995
We have studied the kinetics of the inhibition of mitochondrial protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) from liver and placenta of 3 mammalian species by the diphenyl ether herbicide acifluorfen (AF). AF competitively inhibited PPO from human liver and placenta, mouse liver and pig placenta with respect to its substrate protoporphyrinogen.

Evaluation of the carcinogenic potential of pesticides. 1. Acifluorfen.

Regulatory toxicology and pharmacology : RTP, 1989
The Health Effects Division of the Office of Pesticide Programs evaluates the carcinogenic properties of pesticides by a consensus peer review process in which all available biological information on a compound is evaluated according to EPA's guidelines for cancer risk assessment.
