ω‐Hydroxyacid Dehydrogenases From Clostridium viride: Iron‐Containing Biocatalysts With Biotechnological Potential

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 16, 27 August 2026.
ω‐Hydroxy and ω‐oxo acids are precursors to lactones, polyesters, and nylon‐6, yet selective interconverting enzymes remain scarce. Clostridium viride supplies two iron alcohol dehydrogenases: Cvir‐Hbd2, restricted to C4, and the genomic singleton Cvir‐Hvd, spanning C5–C12 substrates.
