Cosmid Cloning of Five \u3cem\u3eZymomonas trp\u3c/em\u3e Genes by Complementation of \u3cem\u3eEscherichia coli\u3c/em\u3e and \u3cem\u3ePseudomonas putida trp\u3c/em\u3e Mutants [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
A library of Zymomonas mobilis genomic DNA was constructed in the broad-host-range cosmid pLAFR1. The library was mobilized into a variety of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas putida trp mutants by using the helper plasmid pRK2013. Five Z.

Acinetobacter spp. Infections

open access: yesKansenshogaku Zasshi, 2011
Acinetobacter, which is Gram-negative non-fermentated bacilli, is isolated from natural environment and human body, including skin and gastrointestional tracts of both healthy persons and immunocompromised patients. Acinetobacter can cause bacterial infections, such as blood stream infections and health care-associated pneumonia.

Technical Note and Short Review: A Challenging Case of a Premature Newborn Presenting With ICH, IVH, Ventriculitis, and Hydrocephalus

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Premature infants are at a heightened risk of intracerebral or intraventricular hemorrhages (IVH), which often lead to posthaemorrhagic hydrocephalus and necessitate the placement of a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt. Here, we present a case involving suspected ICH, which led to multiloculated hydrocephalus, recurrent ventriculitis, and ...

Targeting gut microbiota and metabolites in cancer radiotherapy

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
Radiotherapy (RT) efficacy and toxicity are influenced by gut microbiota and their metabolites. This review explores how probiotics, prebiotics, and microbial byproducts (e.g., short‐chain fatty acids [SCFAs]) mitigate radiation damage and enhance tumour radiosensitivity.

Marine aerobic biofilm as biocathode catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Stainless steel electrodes were immersed in open seawater and polarized for some days at − 200 mV vs. Ag/AgCl. The current increase indicated the formation of biofilms that catalysed the electrochemical reduction of oxygen.

Nanostructured Biosensor Based on Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes and Antimicrobial Peptide Temporin‐PTA for Bacterial Detection

open access: yesElectroanalysis, Volume 37, Issue 10, October 2025.
A nanostructured electrochemical biosensor was developed by assembling MWCNTs with the antimicrobial peptide Temporin‐PTA. The platform enables rapid bacterial detection within 5 min, differentiates Gram‐negative from Gram‐positive pathogens, and achieves a low detection limit of 10 CFU/mL.
