AraC‐Family Transcriptional Regulator WhpR Controls Virulence in Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi Through Regulation of Indole Metabolism

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 10, October 2025.
The WHOP genomic island of Pseudomonas syringae complex pathogens integrates indole degradation, multicellular behaviour, fitness and virulence regulation in woody hosts. We propose that the ipoABC and dhoAB operons mediate indole catabolism to anthranilate, which is channeled into the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA).

The bacteriology of oil sardine (Sardinella longiceps) and mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) from tropical waters off Cochin. 2. Qualitative aspects [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
80% of the flora of skin, gills and intestines of oil sardine and mackerel at isolation temperature 28 ± 2°C consisted of Gram negative asporogenous rods or cocci, belonging to the genera Vibrio, Pseudomonas, Moraxella, Acinetobacter and Flavobacteria ...

Characterising the Multiple‐Plastic Degrading Strain of Bacillus subtilis GM_03 From the Galleria mellonella Microbiome

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2025.
A novel strain of Bacillus subtilis has been isolated from plastic‐fed Galleria mellonella larvae, which shows evidence of degradation of both LDPE and PU plastics. Genes potentially associated with plastic degradation have been identified following directed evolution and genome sequencing of the strain.

CHROMagar Acinetobacter medium for detection of carbapenemase-producing Acinetobacter spp. strains from spiked stools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The recently modified CHROMagar Acinetobacter medium was evaluated for detection of carbapenemase-producing Acinetobacter baumannii from spiked stools. A total of 45 Acinetobacter spp. isolates were tested.

Mining Microbial Niches: Sources of Bacteria for Enhancing Plant Growth and Resilience to pH, Salinity, Drought and Phytophthora infestans

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2025.
In this study, 21 bacterial strains were isolated from diverse ecological niches, including straw digestate, mycorrhizal roots and a stone fountain. These strains, spanning eight genera, were evaluated for plant growth promotion, biocontrol against Phytophthora infestans, and tolerance to abiotic stresses such as salinity, pH and drought.

Chemical Composition, Biological Action and Use of Zingiber officinale Essential Oil as an Antimicrobial Agent in Minimally Processed Beetroot Inoculated With Bacillus subtilis

open access: yesJournal of Food Safety, Volume 45, Issue 5, October 2025.
This study investigates the antimicrobial effect of Zingiber officinalis essential oil on Bacillus subtilis in minimally processed beetroot. Samples were subjected to mild heat treatment, inoculated, and stored at 4°C, followed by microbiological evaluation and MALDI‐TOF MS analysis of biofilm changes.
