Calculation of ankle and knee joint moments during ACL-injury situations in soccer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The basis of ACL-injury prevention is the understanding of the injury mechanism. Therefore a new approach was developed and validated that enables the calculation of knee and ankle joint moments during the injury.

Effects of a prophylactic knee sleeve on anterior cruciate ligament loading during sport specific movements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
CONTEXT: Prophylactic knee bracing is extensively utilized in athletic populations, to reduce the high risk from knee injuries, but their role in the attenuation of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) pathologies is not well understood.

ACL INJURY AND RETURN TO SPORT

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Health & Science in Sports, 2021
We followed 110 patients who had sustained an acute traumatic Haemarthrosis for a mean of 60 months. The arthrometer measurements within 90 days of injury revealed the injured knee was stable in 35 patients and unstable in 75. Thirty-five unstable patients had an ACL reconstruction within 90 days of injury.

Sonographic Patellar and Quadriceps Tendon Length Pre‐ and Post‐Autograft Harvest: Reliability and Concurrent Validity

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extensor mechanism autografts used for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, namely bone‐patellar tendon‐bone (BPTB) and quadriceps tendon (QT), may result in harvest‐site tendon elongation. Extended field of view (EFOV) ultrasound imaging has the potential to evaluate changes in tendon length, but the reliability and validity of these ...

Estrogen and Progesterone Exhibit Distinct Yet Coordinated Roles in the Regulation of Tendon Extracellular Matrix Remodeling

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM) is required for the proper healing, strengthening, and maintenance of tendon tissue. There are well‐documented sex differences in tendon injury rates and healing outcomes, often attributed to either innate differences in tissue structure and resident cell signaling or the influence of sex hormones ...
