Curcumin Nanoformulations for Dermatological Applications: From Nutraceuticals to Nanocarriers

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
Nanotechnology‐based delivery platforms enhance the cutaneous administration of curcumin. Loading free curcumin into polymeric micelles, metal‐based nanoparticles, nanogels/hydrogels, liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, or nanoemulsions/nanocrystals helps address its low solubility, poor stability and limited skin permeation. As a result, these systems

Integrative Genetic Perspectives: Decoding the Relationship Between Micronutrients, Inflammatory Cytokines, and Inflammatory Skin Diseases

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
This Mendelian randomization study investigated causal relationships between 15 micronutrients, 91 inflammatory proteins, and 13 inflammatory skin diseases. Genetically predicted higher Vitamin B6 levels showed a significant causal association with increased risk of hidradenitis suppurativa (FDR < 0.05).

Serum Proteomic Profiling Uncovers Dysregulated Keratinisation and Immune‐Related Pathways in Hidradenitis Suppurativa

open access: yesExperimental Dermatology, Volume 35, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an autoinflammatory keratinisation disease affecting the pilosebaceous unit and hallmarked by a complex and multifactorial pathogenesis. Although genomic and transcriptomic investigations have substantially advanced our understanding of key mechanisms underlying HS pathogenesis, proteomic studies remain limited,

Towards the development of upgrade criteria for the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa with biologics

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 658-669, April 2026.
Forty‐three HS specialists from 22 European countries reported adherence to HS guidelines and use of antibiotics before biologics despite limited efficacy and rapid relapse (49% within 1–3 months). Seventy‐nine per cent supported short‐term biologics for severe Hurley I disease.
