Oral isotretinoin is a vitamin A derivative, which has been on the market for almost 30 years. It is an extremely effective treatment for nodulocystic acne, a condition where almost no other treatment will work. It is also indicated for less severe acne, not responding to at least 6 months of appropriate oral and topical treatments.
