A Simplified CFD Model for Simulation of the Suction Process Of Reciprocating Compressors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The suction process in reciprocating compressors is strongly affected by the valve dynamics and the pulsating flow throughout the suction muffler. This paper describes a simplified computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model to simulate the flow through the

Segmented Therapeutic Delivery via Acoustic Microbubble Relay

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
An acoustically driven, modular segmented delivery system is presented to overcome mechanical limitations of conventional microcatheters. Oscillating microbubbles generate directional streaming that enables continuous, targeted transport across open, angled segments.

Design and Characterization of a Dual‐Mode Soft Robotic Flapping Propeller With Pneumatic Stiffness Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A novel soft robotic propeller overcomes traditional efficiency‐flexibility tradeoffs via a hybrid pneumatic‐cable actuation strategy. This architecture enables active stiffness modulation with dual‐mode locomotion: tunable biomimetic swimming and earthworm‐inspired wriggling for confined spaces.

Experimental Study on the Enhancement of Heat Transfer Performance in Sintered‐Core Heat Pipes Using CuO Nanofluid

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents the design and construction of an experimental system for evaluating the thermal performance of heat pipes, using sintered‐wick heat pipes charged with CuO nanofluids. The device used in this study is a sintered‐wick heat pipe, in which the liquid return is driven by capillary forces within the porous wick structure.

Influence Mechanism of Structural Parameters of a Novel Sleeve‐Shaft Counterrotating Hydrodynamic Cavitation Reactor on Cavitation Characteristics and Performance

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study systematically investigates the cavitation characteristics of a novel sleeve‐shaft counterrotating (SSCR) hydrodynamic cavitation reactor using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Based on the RANS framework combined with the SST k–ω turbulence model and the Zwart–Gerber–Belamri cavitation model, the temporal–spatial evolution of ...

Cooling Holes in Polymer Spur Gears: A Critical Analysis of Heat Dissipation Benefits and Mesh Stiffness Penalties

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Cooling holes provide a simple passive cooling strategy for polymer spur gears, reducing maximum operating temperature by up to 9.39% while introducing a measurable gear mesh stiffness penalty. A validated response‐surface model reveals how hole size and location govern this thermal–mechanical trade‐off, enabling design optimization for thermally and ...

Simultaneous use of Acoustic Emission Signals and Statistical Analysis to Distinguish between Lubrication Modes in Rolling Element Bearings [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2018
The lack of lubricant in bearing surfaces could be considered as the main cause of wear and faults in bearing surfaces. To avoid unexpected failures, special emphasis on adequate evaluation of lubrication mode (lubricated/dry) on the bearing surfaces is ...
