Clinical Significance of Microembolic Signal Detection in Acute Ischemic Stroke: Insights Into Ongoing Cerebral Embolization and Occult Etiologies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 3, March 2026.
In this prospective study of anterior circulation AIS patients, microembolic signals (MES) were detected in 16% of cases, absent in lacunar stroke. MES presence was linked to multiple‐territory infarcts, newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation, and cancer‐associated stroke.

High‐Frequency Ultrasound Evaluation of Cutaneous Surgical Wound Healing: An Outpatient Experience

open access: yesWound Repair and Regeneration, Volume 34, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐frequency ultrasound (HFUS) allows non‐invasive visualization of skin microarchitecture, offering quantitative assessment of dermal composition and vascularity, but its systematic use to track temporal changes in postoperative wound healing is still limited.

Systolic‐dominant coronary flow in rats and mice: Challenging the diastolic paradigm across conscious and anaesthetized states

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 3, Page 684-699, 1 March 2026.
Abstract Extensive research in humans, dogs, rabbits, rats, mice and other mammals has consistently demonstrated that coronary blood flow (CBF) peaks during ventricular diastole. For example, studies using transthoracic Doppler echocardiography in anaesthetized rats and mice, isolated blood‐perfused rat hearts and Doppler probes sutured to the ...

Three‐Dimensional Characteristics and Dominant Forcing Mechanisms of Third Waves Generated by Nonlinear Near‐Inertial Wave and Internal Tide Interactions

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract Nonlinear interactions between internal tides (ITs) and near‐inertial waves (NIWs) generate the “third waves” at frequencies corresponding to the sum of IT and NIW frequencies. The third waves drive oceanic energy cascade, yet under what conditions these waves are generated remain poorly quantified.
