TRIAXYS ™ Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler Comparison Study
Proceedings of OCEANS 2005 MTS/IEEE, 2005A field trial was conducted during the summer months of 2004, off the West Coast of Vancouver Island comparing ADCP measurements from a buoy-based platform and two bottom based installations in about 45m depth. The buoy-based instrument was a Nortek 600KHz Aquadopp™ Acoustic Current Profiler (ACP) downward looking unit, integrated into the hull of a 1m

Broad-band acoustic Doppler current profiler
Flow Measurement and Instrumentation, 1993Abstract The broad-band acoustic Doppler current profiler is an instrument that determines velocity based on the Doppler principle by reflecting acoustic signals off sediment particles in the water. The instrument is capable of measuring velocity magnitude and direction throughout a water column and of measuring water depth.

Performance of a broadband acoustic Doppler current profiler
Proceedings of the IEEE Fourth Working Conference on Current Measurement, 1990A broadband acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) with enhanced performance is described. It has a useful range comparable to that of a commercially available narrowband system of the same acoustic frequency. The extra performance may be traded off among reduced velocity variance, reduced averaging time, and finer depth resolution.

Biological information from an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler
Marine Biology, 1993Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) are now used routinely by physical oceanographers. A by-product of the signal processing for calculating the Doppler shift used to determine current velocity is the intensity of the acoustic backscatter, and this, in turn, is a measure of biomass.

Development of a shipboard acoustic Doppler current profiler
OCEANS '88. 'A Partnership of Marine Interests'. Proceedings, 2003A shipboard long range acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) was developed that can measure vertical profiles of ocean currents and acoustic backscattering strength in 32 layers up to a depth of 400 m and track the sea bottom up to a depth of 1000 m.

Current Profile Measurement Using Moored Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler
2008Permanent monitoring of currents in the Adriatic coastal region is of great interest both scientifically and to the general public, because of their role in coastline sea life and their impact on economy and tourist activities. Moored ADCP is a convenient instrument for long time current studies.

Intercomparison between acoustic Doppler current profilers
Proceedings of the IEEE Sixth Working Conference on Current Measurement (Cat. No.99CH36331), 1999Acoustic Doppler current meters have revolutionised current measurements and the number of instrument manufacturers is rapidly increasing. On the Scandinavian scene, mainly RD Instruments and NORTEK A/S try to win the favour of the large number of potential customers.

Acoustic Doppler Current Profiling from Moored Subsurface Floats
OCEANS '87, 1987A Doppler Acoustic Profiling Current Meter (DAPCM) was deployed in a sphere at the top of a subsurface mooring in the swift currents of the Strait of Gibraltar. Larger than expected currents caused vertical mooring excursions that in one case exceeded 150 m.

An intercomparison of two acoustic doppler current profilers
OCEANS '85 - Ocean Engineering and the Environment, 1985An AMETEK Straza DCP4400 Doppler current profiler and an RD Instruments RD-SC1200 Doppler current profiler were operated simultaneously for a period of 5 days in the Port of Miami in bottom-mounted upward looking configurations. An EG&G-VMCM mooring was deployed between the two Doppler systems for the same period, and drifter experiments were also ...
