Underwater acoustic wave generation by filamentation of terawatt ultrashort laser pulses
Acoustic signals generated by filamentation of ultrashort TW laser pulses in water are characterized experimentally. Measurements reveal a strong influence of input pulse duration on the shape and intensity of the acoustic wave.

Relationship between ae signal strength and absolute energy in determining damage classification of concrete structures [PDF]
The most efficient tools in real monitoring system is acoustic emission (AE). This technique can be used to identify the damage classifications in RC structure.

OCCLUDED GASES EFFECT ON ACOUSTIC EMISSION UNDER CRYSTAL SALVATION
The acoustic emission following the salt solution processes is investigated. It is educed that the acoustic emission parameters depend on the substance chemistry.

Fundamental study on a thin-film ae sensor for measurement of behavior of a multi-pad contact slider [PDF]
To study the fundamental dynamic characteristics of a multi-pad slider for contact recording, we developed a thin-film piezoelectric acoustic emission array sensor on an Si-suspension with an array pattern similar to that of contact pads.

Power Laws, Precursors and Predictability During Failure
We investigate the dynamics of a modified Burridge-Knopoff model by introducing a dissipative term to mimic the bursts of acoustic emission (AE) from rock samples.

Acoustic Emission: Establishing the Fundamentals
In the mid-1970's a program of fundamental research was initiated at NBS to improve the scientific understanding of acoustic emission. Many individual results of this research have been reported in the literature and are beginning to be incorporated in a new generation of acoustic emission instrumentation, in improved test methodologies, and in the ...

Decoherence in quantum dots due to real and virtual transitions: a non-perturbative calculation
We investigate theoretically acoustic phonon induced decoherence in quantum dots. We calculate the dephasing of fundamental (interband or intraband) optical transitions due to real and virtual transitions with higher energy levels.
