An acoustic surveillance system for critical event detection

open access: yes2016 24th Signal Processing and Communication Application Conference (SIU), 2016
In this paper, a novel acoustic surveillance system, that can be used in critical facilities and infrastructures, border security and public premises is introduced. As an application, an acoustic surveillance system that detects gunshots from recorded acoustic signals, and identifies the originating weapon type is selected.

Unsupervised Feature Learning Based on Deep Models for Environmental Audio Tagging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Environmental audio tagging aims to predict only the presence or absence of certain acoustic events in the interested acoustic scene. In this paper we make contributions to audio tagging in two parts, respectively, acoustic modeling and feature learning.

Semi-supervised Acoustic Event Detection Based on Tri-training [PDF]

open access: yesICASSP 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2019
This paper presents our work of training acoustic event detection (AED) models using unlabeled dataset. Recent acoustic event detectors are based on large-scale neural networks, which are typically trained with huge amounts of labeled data. Labels for acoustic events are expensive to obtain, and relevant acoustic event audios can be limited, especially

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...
