Acoustic enhancement of diffusion in a porous material
Lattice Boltzmann simulations are used to model the enhancement of diffusion which results from Eckart (attenuation driven) acoustic streaming in model porous material. Comparisons are made to Fickian diffusion where no flow is present and the diffusion when a fluid jet is used, which represents a more conventional method of enhancement.

Laser‐Assisted Phase Engineering of 2D MoS2 for Efficient Solution‐Processed Electronics
Here, local laser‐assisted phase transition from solution‐processed phase‐pure 1T′ to 2H MoS2 is shown to critically depend on the irradiation atmosphere. While processing in air leads to damaged insulating regions, inert conditions yield semiconducting 2H domains, enabling direct field‐effect transistor patterning with optimized lateral 1T′‐2H MoS2 ...

Acoustical Characterization of Tissue - Mimicking Materials
Ultrasonic devices are today widely used in hospitals for diagnosis and treatment purposes. Quality controls of ultrasonic devices used in the field of health must be performed on phantoms that simulate human tissue with similar acoustic properties to human tissue in terms of both safety and proximity to reality.

This review examines passive, active, and hybrid liquid manipulation strategies, highlighting hybrid approaches as an emerging route to reconcile energy efficiency with adaptive control. By actively reconstructing passive surfaces to store programmable interfacial energy, hybrid systems enable flexible yet low‐power liquid transport, with perspectives ...

Acoustic Properties of Recycled Polyurethane Foam Waste and Polyvinyl Acetate Composites
According to a European Commission report, around 675 000 tons of polyurethane foam waste is generated in Europe annually. Only 11 % of this waste is recycled, and the rest goes to landfills or is incinerated, so it is worth looking for new ways to treat

Acoustic microscopy of low-ductility materials
Acoustic microscopy offers materials scientists not only high resolution, but also the ability to image sub-surface and surface features by its unique elastic contrast mechanisms. It is a particularly powerful tool for detecting discontinuities such as voids and cracks, and for characterizing interfacial boundaries between different phases.
