Acoustic metamaterial design for aeronautical purposes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Labyrinth-shape quarter wavelength tubes are numerically studied under plane wave excitation, with analytical comparison. These labyrinth resonators (LRs) are tuned at 60, 90 and 120 Hz, and their sound absorption response exhibits maximum peak at those ...

Optimization design of the acoustic metamaterial based on the co-simulation method

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
Once the structure of a metamaterial is fixed, it has the property of controlling elastic waves in a fixed frequency range. To obtain a metamaterial with an optimal structure, a co-simulation optimization method is proposed in this paper to optimize the ...

Wearable Morphology‐Adaptive in‐Ear Device With Active Cleansing Capability for Multimodal Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present SCIENCE, an in‐ear multimodal physiological monitor featuring two key innovations. Water‐triggered morphological expansion (a 2‐mm cylinder to a 9‐mm spindle) achieves conformal adaptation across complex canal geometries. Simultaneously, active biofouling mitigation disrupts cerumen barriers, reducing sensor‐skin impedance by 20%.

A programmable nonlinear acoustic metamaterial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Acoustic metamaterials with specifically designed lattices can manipulate acoustic/elastic waves in unprecedented ways. Whereas there are many studies that focus on passive linear lattice, with non-reconfigurable structures.

Acoustic jet based on acoustic metamaterial

open access: yes, 2021
In this paper, a novel gradient index (GRIN) acoustic metamaterial is proposed based on the concept of optical modified generalized Luneburg lens (MGLL). With the MGLL, double-foci and high energy density between the two foci can be achieved, which enables the realization of an ultra-long acoustic jet between the two foci.

Strain‐Activated Mechanical Metamaterial With Programmable Dual‐Phase Stiffness and Enhanced Energy Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A strain‐activated mechanical metamaterial is developed to achieve programmable dual‐phase stiffness through an intrinsic geometric locking mechanism. Finite element modeling and parametric analysis identify the key design parameters governing activation strain, stiffness transition, and energy absorption.

Acoustic metamaterial design and applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The explosion of interest in metamaterials is due to the dramatically increased manipulation ability over light as well as sound waves. This material research was stimulated by the opportunity to develop an artificial media with negative refractive index

Broadband Acoustic Hyperbolic Metamaterial

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2015
Acoustic metamaterials (AMMs) are engineered materials, made from subwavelength structures, that exhibit useful or unusual constitutive properties. There has been intense research interest in AMMs since its first realization in 2000 by Liu et al. A number of functionalities and applications have been proposed and achieved using AMMs.
