Flexible Dielectric Acoustic Resonator Patch for Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible dielectric acoustic resonator patch enables MHz‐range ultrasound generation through resonance amplification without using piezoelectric materials. Conformal integration on a curved substrate allows efficient acoustic delivery to tissue‐mimicking environments.

All-optical optoacoustic microscopy based on probe beam deflection technique

open access: yesPhotoacoustics, 2016
Optoacoustic (OA) microscopy using an all-optical system based on the probe beam deflection technique (PBDT) for detection of laser-induced acoustic signals was investigated as an alternative to conventional piezoelectric transducers.

Acoustic microscopy of elastic discontinuities

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1984
Abstract In the reflection-scanning acoustic microscope, interference fringes may be obtained from cracks and grain boundaries running at an angle to the surface. The periodicity of these fringes suggests that while sometimes they are caused by reflection of longitudinal waves within the specimen, when the feature is approximately ...

Ultrafast Vertical Organic Electrochemical Transistors With Ion‐Permeable Conductive Polymer Top Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) are limited in speed by ion‐impermeable metal electrodes that slow ion injection. Using ion‐permeable PBFDO top electrodes allows direct vertical ion injection into BBL channels, achieving high current densities (>400 A cm−2), large on/off ratios (>106), and ultrafast switching in 28 µs. This sets a

High-resolution imaging in acoustic microscopy using deep learning

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology
Acoustic microscopy is a cutting-edge label-free imaging technology that allows us to see the surface and interior structure of industrial and biological materials. The acoustic image is created by focusing high-frequency acoustic waves on the object and

Performance Characterization of a Switchable Acoustic Resolution and Optical Resolution Photoacoustic Microscopy System

open access: yesSensors, 2017
Photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) is a scalable bioimaging modality; one can choose low acoustic resolution with deep penetration depth or high optical resolution with shallow imaging depth.

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Near-field acoustic imaging with a caged bubble

open access: yesNature Communications
Bubbles are ubiquitous in many research applications ranging from ultrasound imaging and drug delivery to the understanding of volcanic eruptions and water circulation in vascular plants. From an acoustic perspective, bubbles are resonant scatterers with

Laser‐Assisted Phase Engineering of 2D MoS2 for Efficient Solution‐Processed Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Here, local laser‐assisted phase transition from solution‐processed phase‐pure 1T′ to 2H MoS2 is shown to critically depend on the irradiation atmosphere. While processing in air leads to damaged insulating regions, inert conditions yield semiconducting 2H domains, enabling direct field‐effect transistor patterning with optimized lateral 1T′‐2H MoS2 ...

ACOUSTIC MICROSCOPY OF ULTRASONIC ATTENUATION

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1983
The scanning acoustic microscope can image ultrasonic attenuation. The plastic zone at a stressed notch has been imaged in transmission with the contrast arising from dislocation damping. Contrast in reflection is also shown to be sensitive to attenuation, enabling attenuation to be detected and imaged with spatial resolution of ~2µm.
