Acoustic noise cancellation

ICASSP '86. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
Active cancellation of acoustic noise by subtracting a pressure wave equal to the original wave is a relatively new development made possible by the progress of VLSI for signal processing. This paper concerns an active noise cancellation system which was built around a Texas Instruments TMS 32010 signal processing microprocessor.

Efficiency of Acoustic Noise Protection

Biomedical Engineering, 2013
An original method for integrated assessment of acoustic performance of individual and collective protection against aircraft noise is described. The method can be used for assessing the efficiency of acoustic noise-reducing headphones, noise-protective helmets, and protective jackets, as well as means of collective protection.

Analysis of acoustic noise in MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1997
Acoustic or sound noise due to gradient pulsing has been one of the problems in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), both in patient scanning as well as in many areas of psychiatric and neuroscience research such as functional MRI. Our recent observations in functional MRI for the visual and motor cortex show very different results with sound noise in ...

Acoustic Communication in Noise

2005
Publisher Summary Environmental noise can affect acoustic communication through limiting the broadcast area, or active space, of a signal by decreasing signal-to-noise ratios at the position of the receiver. At the same time, noise is ubiquitous in all habitats and is, therefore, likely to disturb animals, as well as humans, under many circumstances.

The Acoustic Properties of Different Noise Sources

2009 Sixth International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations, 2009
This paper discusses a method to find the acoustic properties of different types of background noise: highway, airport, subway, restaurant, rain, inside a car, and inside a train. Four parameters are calculated using the Auto Correlation Function (ACF).

On perfect acoustic noise cancelling controllers

Proceedings of the 2000 American Control Conference. ACC (IEEE Cat. No.00CH36334), 2000
This paper presents an analysis of perfect noise cancelling controllers for acoustic ducts. The analysis is applicable to many acoustic noise control applications such as active noise suppression in air-conditioning ducts. Implementation issues for an 'ideal' noise cancelling controller are discussed.
