Signatures of Emerging Subsurface Structures in Acoustic Power Maps

open access: yes, 2010
We show that under certain conditions, subsurface structures in the solar interior can alter the average acoustic power observed at the photosphere above them.

Stacking‐Engineered Magnonic Topology and Transport in Honeycomb Homobilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Topological magnons have emerged as a promising platform for dissipationless bosonic transport. However, a straightforward and effective strategy to engineer such topological states in real materials has yet to be fully realized. Here, a general scheme for controlling magnonic topological states via stacking engineering in van der Waals ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Steerable acoustically powered starfish-inspired microrobot

open access: yesNanoscale
We introduce a soft acousto-magnetic microrobot leveraging acoustic streaming for propulsion and mixing. The manipulation strategy exploits the distinct advantages of each applied field, precise magnetic orientation, and powerful acoustic propulsion.

Mechanoregulatory Effects of Cell‐Scale Microwells on Epithelial Cell Phenotype

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In small polycaprolactone microwells, A549 epithelial cells span well edges, in contrast to cells growing on flat substrates. Focal adhesion sites (yellow) concentrate at topographic boundaries, while cytoskeletal tension (magenta stress fibers) is transmitted to the nucleus (blue), reducing nuclear sphericity.

Enabling low power acoustics for capillary sonoreactors

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2019
Capillary reactors demonstrate outstanding potential for on-demand flow chemistry applications. However, non-uniform distribution of multiphase flows, poor solid handling, and the risk of clogging limit their usability for continuous manufacturing. While ultrasonic irradiation has been traditionally applied to address some of these limitations, their ...
