Emergent Freestanding Complex Oxide Membranes for Multifunctional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review surveys freestanding oxide membranes and covers fabrication and three pathways for studies and devices: strain‐free and strained membranes, and van der Waals‐integrated heterostructures. We show how coupled oxide responses map onto these routes and cross‐couple to expand behaviors.

Acoustic Remote Sensing of Wind Wave Directional Parameters [PDF]

open access: yesOCEANS '87, 1987
A Marsh McBirney MODEL MMI-555 was moored for a period of 21 days in the vicinity of Ambrose Tower, N.Y. close to a special prototype bottom mounted 300kHz Ametek Straza acoustic Doppler current profiler. The MMI-555 was operated in the burst mode taking 60 samples at 1-second intervals, each hour. Variances of the horizontal water velocities, measured

Microenvironment Modulation‐Based Nanomaterial‐Loaded Hydrogel Dressings for Diabetic Foot Ulcers: Research Progress and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
xx xx. ABSTRACT Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a chronic complication of diabetes, primarily caused by hyperglycemia, peripheral vascular disease, and neuropathy. Characterized by persistent hyperglycemia, impaired perfusion, inflammation, and infection, DFUs pose significant challenges to healing and are associated with high morbidity and amputation ...

Infrasound From Large Earthquakes Recorded on a Network of Balloons in the Stratosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2022
The ground movements induced by seismic waves create acoustic waves propagating upward in the atmosphere, thus providing a practical solution to perform remote sensing of planetary interiors.

Automatic Construction of Acoustic Themes for Benthic Habitat Mapping at Stanton Banks, UK [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In recent years, many attempts have been made to develop automatic methods for segmentation of hydroacoustic remote sensing data acquired by multibeam echosounders (MBES) in order to generate quantitative estimates of the spatial distribution of seafloor

Photothermomechanically Efficient, Low‐Cost, High‐Cycle‐Life, Hybrid MXene‐Polymer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The addition of MXenes to elastomer‐plastic‐paper films enables the creation of easily prepared actuators that are scalable for small robotic applications. Known as MXene‐polymer Trilayer Actuators (MPTAs), they bend from UV light. Their usefulness is demonstrated through kirigami‐inspired flower‐shaped art design, parallel manipulator for waveguiding,
