Formation of Scattering Characteristics for Acoustical Ray Tracing Simulation

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2018
Ray tracing simulation of sound field in rooms is a common tool in room acoustic design for predicting impulse response. There are numerous commercial engineering tools utilising ray tracing simulation. A specific problem in the simulation is the modelling of diffuse reflections when contribution of individual surface is prevailing.

Broadband acoustic pseudospin topological states based on the reverse spin-orbit coupling in generalized insulators

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
Acoustic topological insulators have the excellent characteristic of the pseudospin-dependent one-way transmission of sound edge states immune to backscattering.

Modified Green's Functions for Shallow Water Acoustic Wave Propagation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This article presents an assessment of alternative forms of the Green’s function for boundary element simulations of acoustic wave propagation in shallow water. It is assumed that the problem is two-dimensional, the source of acoustic disturbance is time-

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Excitation of monochromatic and stable electron acoustic wave by two counter-propagating laser beams

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
The undamped electron acoustic wave is a newly-observed nonlinear electrostatic plasma wave and has potential applications in ion acceleration, laser amplification and diagnostics due to its unique frequency range. We propose to make the first attempt to

Computing coherent phonon lifetimes in layered acoustic cavities [PDF]

open access: yesJASA Express Letters
The confinement of coherent phonons in acoustic cavities can lead to ultrahigh-frequency resonators and may tap into the quantum nature of phonons. Their practicality is linked to the coherent phonon lifetime or the characteristic time scale for the ...

Low frequency 3D transmission ultrasound tomography: technical details and clinical implications

open access: yesZeitschrift für Medizinische Physik, 2023
A novel 3D ultrasound tomographic (3D UT) method (called volography) that creates a speed of sound (SOS) map and a reflection modality that is co-registered are reviewed and shown to be artifact free even in the presence of high contrast and thus shown ...
