Control of the Acoustic Scattering Characteristics of a Rigid Sphere by Surface Loading

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1965
The problem of an acoustic wave incident on a rigid sphere “loaded” in a narrow azimuthal region is considered. The solution appears as the superposition of the field scattered by the unloaded sphere and that radiated by an active slot coincident with the load, with the radiation strength of the slot related to the loading characteristics in the ...

The spectral characteristics of an acoustic pressure field scattered by a nondeformable solid of revolution

Journal of Soviet Mathematics, 1993
We carry out a numerical analysis of the solution of scattering problems for acoustic waves by acoustically soft and rigid bodies whose shape is close to spherical. We obtain the absolute value of the scattering amplitude as a function of the wave number. Four figures. One table. Bibliography: 8 titles.

Acoustic effects on Bessel light beam characteristics in scattering media

Journal of Optical Technology
Subject of study. This study examines the propagation of Bessel light beams in scattering media under acoustic interaction. Aim of study. The study aims to investigate speckle contrast reduction, or the “enlightenment” of a scattering medium, as Bessel light beams propagate through it, using the acoustic impact on the medium ...

The acoustic transmission and scattering characteristics of a plate with line impedance discontinuities

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1978
An approach is presented to investigate the acoustic transmission and scattering of a plane wave by a fluid loaded plate with line impedance discontinuities. Non-specular contributions to the acoustic field are shown to originate at the discontinuities on the plate, which is described by Timoshenko-Mindlin plate theory.

Characteristic properties of ion acoustic harmonics produced by stimulated brillouin scattering

Physics Letters A, 1983
Abstract The theory of ion acoustic harmonic production with stimulated Brillouin scattering is extended up to the third harmonic. Stationary spatial solutions are given for normalized ion acoustic wave amplitudes and characteristic properties derived, which may serve experimentalists for future detailed investigations.

Characteristics of a wake-vortex tracking system based on acoustic refractive scattering

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1977
The theory of acoustic-ray bending by aircraft-generated vortices is developed in a form convenient for application to a practical vortex tracking system. The maximum scattering angle ϑm is proportional to the vortex circulation divided by the average core radius.
