Acoustic Signal Processing

2014
Signal processing refers to the acquisition, storage, display, and generation of signals – also to the extraction of information from signals and the re-encoding of information. As such, signal processing in some form is an essential element in the practice of all aspects of acoustics.

Acoustic/underwater signaling device

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
The present invention is concerned with an underwater communication device, and more specifically a device that is simple in design, is simple to operate, is powered solely by a simple pull from a swimmers or diver's hand against the resistance of a spring or elastic band, is extremely low maintenance, is resistant to accidental sound generation ...

Acoustic Signalling in Female Fish

2015
Sound production in female fish has only seldom been mentioned, which is in contrast to the vast literature on male sound production. This lack of information is surprising because sound-generating mechanisms are present in females of (almost) all vocal species.

Acoustic signal producing apparatus

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002
An acoustic signal producing apparatus wherein various musical effects are applied to a musical tone signal and an acoustic signal respectively produced at an internal tone generator and supplied from an external device such as a microphone, an electronic musical instrument or the like in such a manner that an applying state of the musical effects can ...

Underwater Acoustic Signal Processing

2007
Abstract : The reports cover progress to develop a signal processing structure that exploits available knowledge of the environment and of signal and noise variability induced by the environment. The research is directed toward passive sonar detection and classification, continuous wave (CW) and broadband signals, shallow water operation, both platform-

Acoustic signaling in fish

Journal of Ichthyology, 2009
The paper lists basic data on the role of sounds in fish behavior. The involvement of acoustic signaling in the control of reproductive, territorial, agonistic, aggressive, social, and feeding behavior in fish that differ in the systematics and mode of life is considered.

Multichannel acoustic signal processing

2012
Multichannel audio is necessary to enhance sound realism in a teleconferencing system. Sound spatialization to improve the quality of service can be achieved through the use of three-dimensional (3-D) audio systems. A 3-D audio system implemented using loudspeakers inherently suffers from the problem of acoustic crosstalk cancellation.

Acoustic signal conditioning device

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1984
An underwater acoustic array comprises an acoustic skirt baffle positioneddjacent to a hull surface for reducing the transmission of shipboard noise; an acoustic conditioning module positioned over the acoustic skirt baffle; and an outer layer secured to the acoustic conditioning module and containing a plurality of hydrophone units.

Surface acoustic signal defader

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1981
A surface acoustic signal defader for optimizing the signal received from underwater sound scattered from the ocean surface. The bandwidth of the underwater sound source is monitored and the frequency of maximum signal strength is identified. When the maximum signal strength frequency fades a predetermined amount, reception is switched to the signal of

Acoustic signal enhancement system

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006
A signal enhancement system improves the quality of a noisy input signal. The system finds a low noise signal model which best matches the noisy input signal. Noisy portions of the input signal are replaced with portions of the low noise signal models.
