Acoustical Signal Detection in Turbulent Airflow

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1960
Improvement in detected signal-to-noise ratio is obtained for a periodic signal masked by additive noise and turbulent noise backgrounds. Comparisons are made between autocorrelation, crosscorrelation, and a combination of frequency filtering and crosscorrelation.

Acoustic signal detection of manatee calls

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2003
The West Indian manatee (trichechus manatus latirostris) has become endangered partly because of a growing number of collisions with boats. A system to warn boaters of the presence of manatees, that can signal to boaters that manatees are present in the immediate vicinity, could potentially reduce these boat collisions.

Anharmonic Interaction Signals for Acoustic Detection of Analyte

Analytical Chemistry, 2010
The challenges with frequency-based acoustic detection systems in sensitive, selective, and reliable quantitative estimation of surface-bound analyte are well-known. These systems are traditionally used in their linear incarnations; i.e., the measurement frequency is the same as the driving frequency.

Method of detecting acoustic signal

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1994
According to a method of detecting an acoustic signal, first and second sound receiving units are located at substantially the same position and are used to output signals having different target signal power to noise power ratios (S/N ratios). When a difference between the powers of the signals output from the first and second sound receiving units or

Acoustic Signal Based Automatic Vehicle Detection System

International Journal of Scientific Research, 2012
Vehicle detection system plays an important role in intelligent transportation System. a multistage hierar- chical algorithm of acoustic signal analysis and pattern recognition for identification of moving vehicles in an open environment. Vehicle detection for the two wheelers, four wheelers and also heavy weight and light weight vehicles should be ...

Microphone-detected ion-acoustic signal from metals

Journal of Applied Physics, 1988
An experimental system for studying acoustic signals generated by a modulated MeV ion beam in metals is described. For detection, a closed cell on the rear side of a copper or aluminum sample, a half-inch condenser microphone, and a lock-in amplifier were employed.

Slip detection using acoustic emission signal analysis

Proceedings. 1987 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2005
The detection of the onset of motion and slip between an end effector and workpiece has been of interest for some time and many schemes have been proposed. This paper reviews some of the background on slip detection methods and proposes use of acoustic emission signal analysis a slip detection technique.

Empirical signal decomposition for acoustic noise detection

2016 IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop (SAM), 2016
This paper introduces an adaptive noise detection method for non-stationary acoustic noisy signals. The proposed approach is based on the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and a vector of Hurst exponent coefficients. The scheme is investigated considering real acoustic noisy signals with different non-stationarity degree and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)

One approach to acoustic signals contamination detection

2018 23rd International Scientific-Professional Conference on Information Technology (IT), 2018
Efficient predictive maintenance systems can significantly decrease expenses in modern industrial plants. An illustrative example is a predictive maintenance technique based on estimation of fan mill impact plates state in thermal power plants. This can be performed using acoustic signals which are a natural choice but they are very sensitive to ...

Semantic Region Detection in Acoustic Music Signals

2004
We propose a novel approach to detect semantic regions (pure vocals, pure instrumental and instrumental mixed vocals) in acoustic music signals. The acoustic music signal is first segmented at the beat level based on our proposed rhythm tracking algorithm.
