Detecting the nonlinearity of fish acoustic signals

Journal of Ocean University of China, 2006
This paper discusses the nonlinearity of fish acoustic signals by using the surrogate data method. We compare the difference of three test statistics—time-irreversibility Trev, correlation dimension D2 and auto mutual information function I between the original data and the surrogate data. We come to the conclusion that there exists nonlinearity in the

Acoustical respiratory signal analysis and phase detection

2008 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2008
In this paper we propose a statistical modeling approach for phase detection of normal breathing sounds. Previous studies have been considering only the detection of inspiration mid-points and breathing onset. Here we focus on the detection of both inspiration and expiration phases.

Accurate Combined Keystrokes Detection Using Acoustic Signals

2016 12th International Conference on Mobile Ad-Hoc and Sensor Networks (MSN), 2016
With the development of acoustic localization schemes using mobile devices, keystroke detection has received tremendous attention from the academia and industry. Currently, most of the existing systems focus on the recognition of a single keystroke and they are limited by several restrictions.

HDD actuator resonance detection through acoustic signal analysis

INTERMAG 2000 Digest of Technical Papers. 2000 IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 2000
This paper presents a method for monitoring the hard disk drive (HDD) actuator resonant frequencies by analyzing the audible acoustic signal emitted by the actuator during seeking operations. The acoustic signal detected by a microphone is amplified by a filter board. Then its power spectrum density (PSD) is estimated.

Research on laser detection of underwater acoustic signals

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
A technique is developed to detect underwater acoustic signals by utilizing the resultant surface perturbations. It uses light wave in air and uses acoustic wave under water. Because two best channels are combined together, it is an ideal method for remotely detecting underwater acoustic signals.

Underwater Acoustic Signal Detection and Identification Study for Acoustic Tracking Applications

OCEANS 2018 MTS/IEEE Charleston, 2018
In this work an acoustic tag detector was developed for the integration in a mobile robotic fish tracking architecture. The present paper presents both the developed system and preliminary results with particular emphasis of the developed solution with the tag manufacturer receiver.

Acoustic Signal Detection in Uncertain Ocean Environments

1993
This paper reports on acoustical signal detection in a random multipath environment. The multipath transmission channel is modeled assuming both multipath time delay and attenuation coefficients characterizing the emitter/receiver transfer function are random variables with an a priori probability density function.

Method and apparatus for detecting acoustic signals from a plurality of acoustic signal sensors

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002
An apparatus and method for detecting acoustic signals from a plurality of acoustic signal sensors. The apparatus comprises a plurality of acoustic signal detection channels. Each channel has an input for receiving acoustic signals from a corresponding acoustic signal sensor and includes circuitry for amplifying the received acoustic signals, removing ...
