Investigation of sound propagation in a duct with a mean temperature gradient [PDF]
This paper presents an analytical and numerical investigation of an impedance tube in the presence of a mean temperature gradient. Full Navier-Stokes simulation of the acoustic wave propagations through an impedance tube in the presence of a mean ...

A simple model of ultrasound propagation in a cavitating liquid. Part II: Primary Bjerknes force and bubble structures [PDF]
In a companion paper, a reduced model for propagation of acoustic waves in a cloud of inertial cavitation bubbles was proposed. The wave attenuation was calculated directly from the energy dissipated by a single bubble, the latter being estimated ...

The hidden role of Cd segregation at grain boundaries is revealed in p‐type Mg3Sb2 by atom probe tomography and other advanced characterizations. Grain boundary Cd enrichment suppresses the SbMg+ hole‐killer formation and lowers potential barriers, enhancing electrical conductivity.

Convective quenching of stellar pulsations [PDF]
Context: we study the convection-pulsation coupling that occurs in cold Cepheids close to the red edge of the classical instability strip. In these stars, the surface convective zone is supposed to stabilise the radial oscillations excited by the kappa ...

InSb, a narrow‐bandgap semiconductor with high carrier mobility, is promising for thermoelectric energy conversion but suffers from high lattice thermal conductivity and strong bipolar conduction. Here, in situ interface engineering using Co2O3 nanoprecursors forms hierarchical CoSbx/In2O3/CoSb3 heterostructures that enhance phonon scattering and ...

On wavenumber spectra for sound within subsonic jets
This paper clarifies the nature of sound spectra within subsonic jets. Three problems, of increasing complexity, are presented. Firstly, a point source is placed in a two-dimensional plug flow and the sound field is obtained analytically.

A Non‐Reciprocal Architected Porous Medium
ABSTRACT In several fluid flow, energy‐dumping, and energy‐harvesting applications, a dominant flow direction or dominant resistance direction is desirable. In this study, we propose a simple modular geometry that doubles flow resistance in one direction relative to the opposite direction, while maintaining laminar viscous flow.
