Aerothermoelastic-Acoustics Simulation of Flight Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yesAIAA Journal, 2017
This paper describes a novel computational-fluid-dynamics-based numerical solution procedure for effective simulation of aerothermoacoustics problems with application to aerospace vehicles. A finite element idealization is employed for both fluid and structure domains, which fully accounts for thermal effects.

Range-dependent flexibility in the acoustic field of view of echolocating porpoises (Phocoena phocoena) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Funding: Det Frie Forskningsrad (MJ)Toothed whales use sonar to detect, locate, and track prey. They adjust emitted sound intensity, auditory sensitivity and click rate to target range, and terminate prey pursuits with high-repetition-rate, low-intensity

Simulation of Surface Acoustic Wave Devices [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004
The Mason crossed-field circuit model is generalized to simulate apodized interdigital transducers without channel division. The apodized transducer model is based on the transmission line model, and the artificial transformer with different voltage and current coupling ratios is used to independently obtain the transfer function and radiation ...

Digital waveguide modeling for wind instruments: building a state-space representation based on the Webster-Lokshin model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper deals with digital waveguide modeling of wind instruments. It presents the application of state-space representations for the refined acoustic model of Webster-Lokshin.

Acoustic and Large Eddy Simulation studies of azimuthal modes in annular combustion chambers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The objectives of this paper are the description of azimuthal instability modes found in annular combus- tion chambers using two numerical tools: (1) Large Eddy Simulation (LES) methods and (2) acoustic solv- ers.

All-pass phase shifting achieved by acoustic unidirectional guided resonances

open access: yesApplied Physics Express, 2023
Phase manipulation of sound is an important function for many acoustic applications. Here, we apply temporal coupled mode theory to demonstrate that sound all-pass phase shifting, which means that acoustic waves propagate with unit amplitude but have ...

Large-Eddy Simulation of combustion instabilities in a variable-length combustor. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This article presents a simulation of a model rocket combustor with continuously variable acoustic properties thanks to a variable-length injector tube. Fully compressible Large-Eddy Simulations are conducted using the AVBP code.

Computer graphics visualization for acoustic simulation [PDF]

open access: yesACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics, 1989
Computer simulations can be used to generate the spatial and temporal data describing the acoustical behavior of performance halls, but typically the analytical results are difficult to assimilate and compare. By using computer graphics to display the multi-dimensional data, substantially greater amounts of information than that conveyed by standard ...

Acoustic Measurements and Simulations on Yachts: An Evaluation of Airborne Sound Insulation

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The perceived acoustic comfort on board modern yachts has recently been the subject of specific attention by the most important classification societies, which have issued new guidelines and regulations for the evaluation of noise and vibrations.
