Aerothermoelastic-Acoustics Simulation of Flight Vehicles [PDF]
This paper describes a novel computational-fluid-dynamics-based numerical solution procedure for effective simulation of aerothermoacoustics problems with application to aerospace vehicles. A finite element idealization is employed for both fluid and structure domains, which fully accounts for thermal effects.

All-pass phase shifting achieved by acoustic unidirectional guided resonances
Phase manipulation of sound is an important function for many acoustic applications. Here, we apply temporal coupled mode theory to demonstrate that sound all-pass phase shifting, which means that acoustic waves propagate with unit amplitude but have ...

Acoustic Shell Optimization in Opera Houses for Concert Halls
Opera houses are often used as concert halls with the use of a temporary acoustic shell set on stage. In most cases, the shell shape and its position in the fly tower are decided by theatre technicians, after evaluating the concert programme and ...

Homogeneous material based acoustic concentrators and rotators with linear coordinate transformation
With the ability to focus and rotate the acoustic field in a given region while keeping the outside region unchanged, the acoustic concentrator and rotator has been developed for the versatile manipulations of acoustic wave. In this letter, we report the

A head template for computational dose modelling for transcranial focused ultrasound stimulation
Transcranial focused Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS) at low intensities is emerging as a novel non-invasive brain stimulation method with higher spatial resolution than established transcranial stimulation methods and the ability to selectively stimulate ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
