From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

Directional Sources in Wave-Based Acoustic Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing, 2019
Volumetric wave-based acoustic simulation relies on the complete solution to the three-dimensional wave equation over a spatial grid. Detailed modeling of sources, however, requires interpolation over the grid, which is complicated by the directional character of the source itself.

Design and Analysis of Compression–Torsion Coupling Metamaterials Using the Golden Section Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel compression–torsion metamaterial is engineered using inclined rods and symmetry breaking. To optimize its torsional performance, the golden section method is employed. The mechanical response of the metamaterial is validated through both numerical analysis and experimental validation.

Zonal direct-hybrid aeroacoustic simulation of trailing edge noise using a high-order discontinuous Galerkin spectral element method

open access: yesActa Acustica, 2022
We present the extension of a discontinuous Galerkin framework to zonal direct-hybrid aeroacoustic simulations. This extension provides the ability to simultaneously perform a zonal large eddy simulation (LES), solving the compressible Navier–Stokes ...

Emergent Topological Magnons and Thermal Hall Effect in 2D Filling‐Enforced Fully Compensated Ferrimagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of ferroelectric‐intercalation‐driven transitions in magnetic configurations and magnonic topological phases, together with the symmetry relations of magnonic Berry curvature. ABSTRACT Magnons in collinear magnets with vanishing net magnetization offer unique advantages for spin transport, including ultrafast dynamics and ...

Two-Dimensional Distributed Transmission-Line Models for Broadband Full-Tensor Anisotropic Acoustic Metamaterials Based on Transformation Acoustics

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
We propose the design method for broadband acoustic metamaterials based on the concept of transformation acoustics. Two-dimensional distributed transmission-line (TL) models for full-tensor anisotropic electromagnetic metamaterials are applied to full ...

Ultrasensitive Anti‐Stokes Luminescence Thermometry in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a highly sensitive nanothermometer using anti‐Stokes photoluminescence, also known as photoluminescence upconversion (UPL), in monolayer tungsten disulfide. A strong resonantly enhanced UPL is observed, confirming the central role of optical phonons in the PL upconversion mechanism.

Modelling and Experimental Analysis of Noise Transmission through Wall of a Railway Vehicle

open access: yesCommunications, 2017
The paper presents results of a grant research project dealing with acoustic properties of the walls and floor of a railway passenger coach investigated by means of the experimental analysis of noise produced during train runs and corresponding ...

3D Printing Innovations in Polymeric Porous and Patterned Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymeric foams occupy a unique structural space between dense solids and open networks, where engineered void fraction governs mechanical compliance, thermal resistance, and mass transport. Additive manufacturing now enables precise spatial control over cellular architecture, unlocking designer foam structures across applications spanning crash ...

Computational aeroacoustics of human phonation

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
The current paper presents a CFD model of flow past vibrating vocal folds coupled to an acoustic solver, which calculates the sound sources from the flow field in a hybrid approach.
