Acoustic-wave transmission in semiconductor superlattices
Physical Review B, 1988Acoustic-phonon transmission and reflection amplitudes are evaluated for semiconductor superlattices. The calculation is based on a finite application of the transfer-matrix method, which permits one to take into account both the crystal anisotropy and the coupling between excited modes of different polarizations.

An acoustic transmission system for a gaseous or liquid transmission medium, in which the transmitting apparatus double-sideband amplitude modulates a carrier with the signal to be transmitted, the double-sideband amplitude modulated carrier is radiated acoustically over the transmission medium, and the receiving apparatus receives the modulated ...

Direct transmissibility and structural acoustics
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2021Direct transmissibility is a useful concept developed for transfer path analysis of linear systems. Defined loosely as the quotient between the responses at degrees-of-freedom i and j when i is excited and all other degrees of freedom are blocked, the direct transmissibility provides information on the connectivity of a system that more conventional ...

Bilateral asymmetry of respiratory acoustic transmission
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1994Sonic noise transmission from the mouth to six sites on the posterior chest wall is measured in 11 healthy adult male subjects at resting lung volume. The measurement sites are over the upper, middle and lower lung fields and are symmetric about the spine.

An acoustic-logging transmission-network model
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002The acoustic logging process can be described as a signal transmission system with a corresponding transmission network model. This model gives the relations between driving-voltage signal, the electrical-acoustic conversion at the source, acoustic properties of the propagation media (borehole fluid and formation around borehole), the pressure response

Cooperative Transmission for Underwater Acoustic Communications
2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2008Underwater acoustic channels normally have low data rate, long propagation delay, severe multipath effect, and time varying fading. Cooperative transmission is a new wireless communication technique in which diversity gain is achieved by utilizing relay nodes as virtual antennae.

A model of acoustic transmission in the respiratory system
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1989A theoretical model of sound transmission from within the respiratory tract to the chest wall due to the motion of the walls of the large airways was developed. The vocal tract, trachea, and the first five bronchial generations are represented over the frequency range from 100 to 600 Hz by an equivalent acoustic circuit.

Acoustic-phonon transmission in quasiperiodic superlattices
Physical Review B, 1987Acoustic-phonon transmission through a realistic Fibonacci superlattice is studied theoretically. We find a number of transmission dips corresponding to Bragg-like reflections of phonons. The transmission spectrum is much more complex than in the periodic case; however, the strongest dips in transmission are remarkably correlated with those of the ...

Abstmct-The results of a study on acoustic transmission and image contrast of a tilted plate specimen in transmission scanning acoustic microscopy (SAhI) are presented. Both the transmission angular spectra and the angular contrasts, as a function of the axial location and the tilt angle of the specimen, are analyzed using the Fourier decomposition ...
