Engineering Aging: Approaches to Model and Deconstruct Biological Complexity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The macro‐experiences of aging are the result of an accumulation of micro‐changes that occur over time. Abstract The disparity between the global increase in life expectancy and the steady decline in health outcomes with age has been a major driver for developing new ways to research aging.

Vertical Nanostructures as Novel Interfaces for Brain Research

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This review highlights the unique features of vertical nanostructures (nanoneedles, nanostraws, nanopillars, and nanowires) for applications in brain research. Various characteristics of nanostructures, including material selection, fabrication methodology, and geometric designs, are discussed for their specific use in neurite guidance, neuron pinning,

Mechanically Compliant and Optically Tunable Metal Oxide‐PDMS Nanocomposite Thin Films as a Platform for Flexible Photonic Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanocomposite thin films incorporating ZnO and TiO2 nanoparticles, optimized using response surface methodology. The films exhibit tunable refractive index, high transparency, low optical loss, and sub‐MPa mechanical compliance.

Engineering Electrical Transport by Implantation‐Induced Defects in CrN Films Without Affecting Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates how implantation‐induced defects in CrN thin films enable controlled tuning of electrical transport from metallic to semiconductor‐like behavior while preserving thermal conductivity. Through cumulative argon implantation, defect landscapes are engineered to manipulate carrier mobility and conduction mechanisms, revealing key ...
