Acousto-optic image processing
Applied Optics, 2008Acousto-optic processing of images is based on the angular selectivity of acousto-optic interaction resulting in spatial filtration of the image spectrum. We present recent theoretical and experimental investigations carried out in this field. Much attention is given to the analysis of the acousto-optic cell transfer function form depending on the ...

An acousto-optic architecture is presented to implement a nonblocking space-division switch with O(N) complexity. Signal degradation is minimal so that the switch is suitable for nonregenerative application within optical networks; it is also capable of rapid reconfiguration. Experiments for a 1 x 4 switch show an insertion loss ranging from 4.6 to 5.6

There is a great variety of beamforming techniques that can be used for localization of sound sources. The differences among them usually lie in the array layout or in the specific signal processing algorithm used to compute the beamforming output.

Acousto-optics and acousto-optical components

Nonreciprocity of acousto-optic interaction in collinear tunable acousto-optic filters
Applied Optics, 2008The investigation of a nonreciprocal effect for the example of collinear acousto-optic interaction is presented. It is shown that this effect influences the parameters of diffraction and the operation of modern acousto-optic devices, particularly acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTFs), at the frequencies of ultrasound of about 1 GHz and higher.

Acousto-optic interaction in Raman–Nath acousto-optic diffraction
The European Physical Journal D, 2019In this article, acousto-optic interaction in Raman–Nath acousto-optic diffraction has been discussed. By studying the relations between the power of the diffracted light and its origin in the ultrasonic field, we found that the phase of the diffracted light is modulated temporally and spatially by the ultrasonic wave.

An Acousto-Optic Gyroscope (AOG) consisting of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) embedded into two inherently matched piezoelectric SAW resonators sharing the same cavity is presented. This constitutes the first demonstration of a MEMS strain-based optomechanical gyroscope that uses refractive index change due to the acousto-optic effect rather than ...

We describe an acousto-optical spectrometer consisting of a Bragg cell made of singlecrystal quartz. Spectral range of 420-780 nm and resolution of 0.2 nm is achieved. Applications in the monitoring of plasma-assisted material treatment are described.
