An acousto-optic beamformer

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
There is a great variety of beamforming techniques that can be used for localization of sound sources. The differences among them usually lie in the array layout or in the specific signal processing algorithm used to compute the beamforming output.

Acousto-Optics in Lithium Niobate-on-Sapphire

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2020
We demonstrate nanophotonic waveguides modulated by surface acoustic waves and use them to study the piezoelectric and photoelastic properties of thin-film lithium niobate-on-sapphire.

Voltage Controlled Acousto-Electric Self-Oscillating Lithium Niobate SAW Resonator for Integrated Acousto-Optics

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics
We demonstrate self-oscillating SAW resonators using InGaAs-TFLN heterostructures for on-chip oscillators and sources of microwave-frequency phonons for acousto-optics.

Acousto-optics as a field of current interest in research and application

Acousto-Optics and Applications, 2019
Some personal recollections on the acousto-optics as an interesting field of physics and its applications will be shared with the participants in a short welcome address. The consecutive number of the present Spring School on AO and A, 14-th, indicates a

Acousto-optic modulators

Photoniques, 2023
The laser invention in 1960 has led to the development of acousto-optics and its applications, mainly for deflection, modulation and signal processing. Technical progresses in both crystal growth and high frequency piezoelectric transducers have brought valuable benefits to acousto-optic components ‘improvements and the use of these components in ...

Nonreciprocity of acousto-optic interaction in collinear tunable acousto-optic filters

Applied Optics, 2008
The investigation of a nonreciprocal effect for the example of collinear acousto-optic interaction is presented. It is shown that this effect influences the parameters of diffraction and the operation of modern acousto-optic devices, particularly acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTFs), at the frequencies of ultrasound of about 1 GHz and higher.

Acousto-optic image processing

Applied Optics, 2008
Acousto-optic processing of images is based on the angular selectivity of acousto-optic interaction resulting in spatial filtration of the image spectrum. We present recent theoretical and experimental investigations carried out in this field. Much attention is given to the analysis of the acousto-optic cell transfer function form depending on the ...
