Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Applicability and Effectiveness of Closed Reduction of Nasal Fractures under Local Anesthesia

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2014
Introduction A significant portion of patients treated in emergency departments have nasal fracture. It is important that the otolaryngologist know how to treat such damage.

Delay in Reporting Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) [PDF]

open access: yes
As of March 31, 1987, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control had reported 33,350 cases of acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Yet by that date, physicians had actually diagnosed 42,670 cases.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Evaluation of intraoperative mitomycin C in surgical management of adult lacrimal sac mucocele

open access: yesDelta Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Purpose The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of intraoperative mitomycin C (MMC) with canaliculodacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) and bicanalicular silicone intubation for the management of adult lacrimal sac mucocele.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Acquired hemophilia A in a patient with advanced prostate cancer

open access: yesAutopsy and Case Reports, 2015
Acquired hemophilia A (AHA) is a rare disorder that results from the presence of autoantibodies against the clotting factor VIII (FVIII) causing hemorrhagic disorders.
