The genetic structure and mating system of Acrocomia aculeata (Arecaceae) [PDF]
Acrocomia aculeata is a perennial, fruit-producing palm tree, native to tropical forests. Its fruits have spurred interest because of their significant potential for use in the cosmetic industry and as feedstock for biofuel.

Pericarp development in the macaw palm Acrocomia aculeata (Arecaceae) [PDF]
The anatomy of the pericarp of the macaw palm (Acrocomia aculeata) was followed during development. Ovaries of flowers collected at anthesis of the bracts as well as pericarps were evaluated at different development phases using traditional plant anatomy

Characterization of Stone Tool Use in Wild Groups of Critically Endangered Yellow-Breasted Capuchin Monkeys (Sapajus xanthosternos). [PDF]
First camera trap video footage for wild Sapajus xanthosternos cracking resistant nuts with stone tools. ABSTRACT Objectives A hallmark of hominin evolution is the advent and diversification of stone tool use, and biological anthropologists have a particular interest in characterizing tool use behaviors in different hominin species.

Genotyping-by-sequencing informs conservation of Andean palms sources of non-timber forest products. [PDF]
Abstract Conservation and sustainable management of lineages providing non‐timber forest products are imperative under the current global biodiversity loss. Most non‐timber forest species, however, lack genomic studies that characterize their intraspecific variation and evolutionary history, which inform species' conservation practices.

Frugivory and seed dispersal in the Cerrado: Network structure and defaunation effects
We investigated the Cerrado seed dispersal network and the potential impacts of defaunation on it by performing a systematic literature review. The Cerrado network has a heterogeneous structure, slightly nested and considerably modular, and is dominated by generalist species.

This work aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary phytic acid on the enzymatic activities of the hepatopancreas of the redclaw crayfish, Cherax quadricarinatus. For this purpose, a completely randomized in vitro trial was conducted with three phytic acid levels (0.56, 1.68, and 2.80%) and three phytase doses (0, 250, and 500 PU/kg DM).
